re: What is the best contest prize you have ever won?

Must be lucky...

Lots of call-ins:

-- copy of Rapper's Delight from rappin' the song live on the radio back when it 1st came out in 1979 and I was 14.

-- several albums from WWOZ as well as tickets to the musical Satchmo!;

-- tickets to see Bo Diddley right after I moved to Atlanta.

--free passes to a day spa (gave to my wife) from calling with the right answer to the Kaare Johnson show.


Other 'lucky' stuff:

-- met DJ's from the old KKND "The End" at a giveaway site and snagged a t-shirt and 2 tix to see the band 311;

-- board raffle at a men's club meeting; won a big screen HDTV;

-- raffle at the church gala; wife and I won an all-expenses paid trip to New York: airfare, nice hotel, Yankees tickets and Broadway show.


Non-'Luck': won $1000 on Jeopardy!-- feel like I won though just by making it on the show within 1 year of trying out.

I won a $150 gift card to my uncle's Piggly Wiggly in Eutaw, AL for finishing 3rd place in a big buck contest at the bait shop when I was 16.

When I was 8, my dad's work was doing bingo at a work vacation and I won blackout and won us 2 nights at the perdido Hilton.

I won an ipad off work a few years back off of $20 ticket.

My wife won a suite at the admiral in downtown Mobile from a bridal expo, that thing was awesome, she had her whole wedding party in it the night before we got married.

My mom went on the Dr Phil show after Katrina, they invited a bunch of schoolteachers so she was in the audience and everyone in the audience got a bunch of crap, some of it was very nice, washer/dryer set, camera, psp. pan and pot set, tupperware. I ended up selling a lot of it on ebay for her, some if it was ridiculous, rhinestone studded designer PJs, ugly designer watch, prepaid verizone phone. They never sent a tax bill either, I guess they paid it for them.

Won might not be the right word but...I was GM of the year for my company and got 2 round trip tickets anywhere on American Airlines, $1500:and an extra week of vacation...took my brother to Scotland and we had an awesome week of golfing.
Recently was given a Tag Heuer watch from my job for performance...($2500 retail but they only added 1k to my income)...great watch, I wear it every day.

My brother-in-law just won the St. Judes Dream Home!
