Probably would be a better fate than the Chewbacca man that walked into the capital and shot the shite with the police until he learned that he was trying to overthrow the federal government

Keep telling yourself that.

I haven't seen much of an LGBTQ community, but I'm sure it exists underground. I think this is less because of Putin, and more due to the majority of Russians being conservative/traditional.

So much for that theory.

And we're supposed to be on the right side here. Let that sink in.

No. They thought we were a joke for electing Trump. That's a fact. Look at their news clips. They made fun of him all the time. They new he was Putin's lap dog and the US was in there back pocket when he was in charge. That's a fact.
Russian people are fine. You want to talk about rigged elections. There's no way Putin won. Then he changes the law to make him leader for even longer. If Putin had his way he'd take over all of Europe. He's a former KGB officer and a heartless killer. The most dangerous man in the world.

It's probably America without the fascism.

The tax rate is a flat 13%. Interests rates are pretty high. For example, buying an apartment the average rate is around 10%, but if you have a kid it's 5.3%.
I’d gladly take 5-10% interest here if I only had to pay 13% in taxes

The name you meant to say is Xi Jinping.

Great topic, thanks for this, been wondering about this for a long time.
What about personal financial growth or investing? Any of that allowed or closely monitored?
The only major difference I’ve read so far was the mandatory military service.

My feeling is not many people invest. The older generations don't trust banks or any financial institutions, and would rather have real estate or keep a chunk of their money as cash.
There is a national pension, but it's depressing how little it is. Most retirees rely on their kids to cover their needs, and this is the social norm.
The younger generations are starting to take more interest in investing for retirement. I don't know anything regarding regulations, but there are brokerage firms for personal accounts that trade in all major markets including the U.S.

Are there anything like open elections where anyone can run and win, or is everything pre-rigged?
I don’t know. I have no knowledge of that.
I assume their system is just like ours though.
I believe we, like the rest of the west, are an oligarchy, and our politicians are largely subordinate to the oligarchy.
The Russian state is probably more powerful than ours though. They have more power vs the oligarchy than Washington does.
Putin spent his first few years in office suppressing the oligarchs, and preventing destructive meddling in state policy.

And, can people actually demonstrate, or do the kind of police you mention make sure that doesn't happen?
I don’t know. I never saw one. But It came up in conversation a few times. They do happen.

On a personal level?
Allen Lynch was one of my professors at UVA.
Lynch met Putin a few times when Putin was working in Saint Petersburg in the early 90s. Putin was a low level bureaucrat at the time.
Lynch had visa issues, if I remember correctly, and Putin helped resolve them.
He described Putin as being nice, polite, his words.

Most importantly, how are Russian women in bed?
From my experience they are harder to get in bed than American women, but way more active. Two of the three Russian women that I have been with were screamers and really liked to pull hair. The other one only wanted to have sex if we could be on cam. She had some kinky toys and a lot of fans from south Louisiana.
