Two words: SOCIAL MEDIA. Always comparing themselves to others
I think this is a big part of it. Also many of them have never learned to deal with losing... then they get in the real world and aren't prepared to manage it. Sends them spinning.

I never claimed that you told me to calm down. The response I wanted to get from you was being pissed off and lashing out. And you danced to my turn as expected.

I answered his question. How am I upset?

But you didn’t see people unable to function because of “anxiety” What’s changed?
Yeah you did. It just wasn't called anxiety.
There's much more increased awareness of mental health issues, not necessarily as much increased incidence.

I think the world today is just too much for children. Doesn’t help that their parents are too busy scrolling Facebook so when their kids acts up they hand them an iPad to shut them up.
I was in high school when social media really took off and couldn’t imagine the distractions I would of had as a elementary kid with the internet in my pocket 24/7

I know it's fun on the OT to act like ADD doesn't exist, but that causes a lot of anxiety as well.
The best explanation for ADD I've ever heard is this:
Imagine there's a, in the case of the OT, a plant operator in your brain. He oversees everything and directs resources in your mind to achieve certain tasks throughout the day. When he's working correctly, everything runs smoothly. A task is received, you initiate work on it immediately, and it is completed in a timely manner.
If you have ADD, that plant operator punched his wife out so he's in jail, unable to work. Tasks come in without anyone to organize and appropriate resources. Things get done, but they are not started in a timely manner and they are finished in a rushed and haphazard way. You see a lot of disorganization and procrastination in people dealing with this.
You should be able to clearly see which one is anxiety inducing.

Test anxiety is a type of performance anxiety, because there is pressure to do well in a specific situation. People can experience test anxiety for a number of reasons. They may fear failure and the uncertainty of the future if they do poorly on an examination.
I can tell you first hand this can happen. Daughter 2 (no pics) made great grades throughout her schooling and bombed the act the first time she took it. The second time was almost as bad. We got her some counseling and help and the third time she did much better. She told us the fear of not getting into college was overwhelming. Graduated with honors and now working on her masters.

Kids had severe anxiety when you were late teens and early 20s also. You were just too young to notice

Why do you always misunderstand my posts and think I’m angry and upset?

Calm down. We’re trying to have an actual discussion and exchange of thoughts and ideas. Either control your emotions or go find whatever IM thread is currently running.
Dude you’re just lashing out because you’ve never been accepted to anything, not even an Internet message board

YouTube is turning our kids into pussys. It's disturbing

Your white knighting of Paige is both obvious and pathetic.
Keep rolling thought. It’s quite amusing.

Stop derailing the thread, please. Some of us are trying to learn here.
