This is a legit question. Personally I think it’s getting worse because now we see people literally unable to go to work or school due to anxiety problems. I’m fact what made me think of this thread was a meeting I had today where a director of marketing told me he has two younger direct reports who have both missed significant amounts of days because of this very issue.

Gonna be real funny when you tell him to calm down after his response to this.

He thinks he’s bothering me

But I’m not as easily upset as he is

I know.

And her reply to me saying that is exactly what I was looking for.

He’s seriously one of the worst posters on the site. Freaks out and starts insulting people that disagree with him

I’d honestly rather have a discussion with oweo

Why? She's the one who wants to be away from you. I sleep in my own bed.

Yes I have. My bff in high school made way better grades than me and worked harder than me. I copied her homework. But I made a 27 on the act and she made a 21

And you’re wrong. It goes much deeper for some people
quote:

Most people get nervous before they take an important test, but some people experience an intense fear or worry known as test anxiety. Test anxiety is a type of performance anxiety, because there is pressure to do well in a specific situation. People can experience test anxiety for a number of reasons. They may fear failure and the uncertainty of the future if they do poorly on an examination. They may have procrastinated due to this fear and feel overwhelmed by cramming for a test at the last minute. They may also have experienced poor test performance in the past and worry about the incident repeating.
All of this stress over the test produces the body’s “fight or flight” response. Your body releases adrenaline, and the energy used to do good thinking gets diverted into being on high alert. Our brains prepare for the worst, and it becomes all too difficult to imagine doing well and to answer questions.

Pump the brakes.

Actually I typically ignore both. I just figured I'd get a few shots in tonight since I was on here and bored.

I just have to wonder if it's more common (per capita) than it was in the past. It's well known that most alcoholics have an underlying mental condition. A lot of baws who hit the bar after work in the 1950's did it to self medicate (still do). Back then you just suffered in silence - you would never seek help (or you'd be shunned by society). It was the same thing for WWII vets - they just kept quiet about their PTSD and drank themselves to sleep.

As for missing work, I bet people did it in the past, too. But they probably didn't tell their boss they were having a breakdown -- they would make up some other excuse.

Now, if today's kids are bitching that they can't handle test anxiety or need to be hospitalized because they fear speaking in public, then they're just pussies. That stuff is NORMAL. But anxiety disorders are a real thing.

You seem quite upset over this thread. If it’s that much of a trigger for you, why keep posting in it?

That wouldn’t work on me because I take birth control to avoid having a period

It’s been over a year since I had one
