Like far too many on TV Food Shows today, just another POSER.

There are many nationally and locally that put on a chef jacket and they get instant food cred. It’s fricking nonsense. That’s what it is.

This sounds like the exact jealous crap I read about on hunting forums. "Lee and Tiffany aren't real hunters! Anyone can do what they do*! Let's see them do that on public land!"

* You mean anyone can, or will, leave their career, mortgage everything they have to buy land and video equipment and start a hunting venture from nothing? Sounds easy

i don't think he's ever claimed to be a "chef"

Aaron Franklin isn't a chef either, though. is he a "poser"?

no. it means you're the chef's boss. the chief's chief

I just like being able to tell by his interactions with the people at the restaurant or his reaction to a bite he's taken whether the food is legit or not.

Takes a bite, talks about the décor of the place, food is crap.

Takes a second bite, book a trip.

We’ve hit a few of those spots on tour and all legit.

Going to check out a few while in Cleveland next week. Also check out a Puerto Rican place in San Antonio when I fly into Austin next year. Been to a few places already. All have been legit.

That doesn’t mean you know food. That means you know how to manage people, and congratulations on that because that’s not easy to do, but it surely doesn’t mean you understand food, and given his stint with stoufer’s I’d wager to say he errs on the side of cutting labor and dumbing shite to oblivion than cutting his food costs, which says he is probably geared toward chain restaurant management but wouldn’t know Dick about anything more in house.

Guy’s not geared to food. He’s a front man, and that’s fine, but let’s not confuse the two.

My cousin lives in Santa Rosa (same town as guy), and he told me that all of Guy’s cars are yellow. Least surprising thing I’ve learned about him, as he seems like someone that would own multiple yellow cars. That being said, he seems to have a heart of gold. I’ve read where he donates a ton of meals to firefighters battling wildfires every year. All that being said, he is low hanging fruit, but he seems to be good people.

I enjoy that as well, he’s gets really specific when he doesn’t like something and doesn’t want to be rude. Takes bite “wow you can really taste the tomatoes in this one!”

I've heard nothing but good things about Guy, and yeah he obviously gives back bigly in addition to all the exposure for small local restaurants.

Good dude in my opinion.

I've watch a lot of 3D and 3G and in an episode of 3D he went back to his Culinary School at UNLV and talked with the current head dude (didn't want to use the word guy) who was in his culinary class at UNLV. GF is a chef and is very much geared toward food. Granted, I've heard his restaurants aren't that great. He is still a chef and a major foodie. As others have said, he brings free advertisement to restaurants and chefs all the time. I don't get the hate that so many place upon him.

He doesn't claim to be a "chef" although that's a position he's previously held.

Goddamn, some of you people are fricking imbeciles.

Do you even know what his shows are about?

My Impression was he is a douche. But friends of mine ran into him filming a segment in Norcal and said he was super nice. They ended up hanging with some of the crew and they all said they loved working with him. So that changed my perspective.

See if you’re from New Orleans you already know this. The sketchier the look of the place, the more likely the food is going to be amazing.
