I banned my son from fortnite when school started back up. My wife and I got tired of him doing the stupid dances, and if he wasn’t playing fortnite, he was watching people play fortnite on YouTube.

Best mode was complex proximity mines only. Only thing you could shoot is the mines.

I’ll preface this by saying that I don’t play fortnite, I tried for a few weeks, but I died way too often for it to be any fun so I don’t play anymore. However, it really isn’t that hard to see why fortnite has taken off like it has...
Think back to when you were a kid. If you played goldeneye, perfect dark, other shooters, etc, I can almost guarantee you that at some point, you or one of your friends made a comment like, ‘dude just think how cool it would be if I were at my house, and you were at your house, but we could still play!!’.. it took so much time, effort, and energy to organize a 4 person game as a child because we didn’t have vehicles and relied on our parents to set up nights like that so if your friends weren’t in your neighborhood, you were screwed.
The internet has made our childhood dreams a reality, now all of the same people who dreamed about it as a child, are the same ones who are dumbfounded over the fact that their kids spend so much time playing it.
Some people just need to find a little moderation for their children, and the fortnite fad wouldn’t be a problem

Throw a mine on an ammo box, pick up the ammo box. It respawns without the mine on it, but still explodes if somebody picks it up.

I mean this is true - but its not like Halo 2 and Modern Warfare didn't already do all of this.
Fortnite is just the new one at a time when social media makes it visible to everyone not already playing.

Also, proximity mines on Complex was always the championship match setting in my group.
Plus they said they were making a documentary about the development of goldeneye - this was a while ago so not sure if it ever got off the ground or not.

It's special because it's free, the paid features don't give to pay-to-win advantages, it doesn't need a top of the line rig to run, and it is on multiple platforms.
