Or to show that there is an investment
If you pay 50.00 for a Reno I gotta fee chances are you have 20.00 to buy dog food
Our local shelter stopped doing sponsored adoption fees due to people wanting “whichever one is free”
I think anything over 100.00 is insane for a rehoming fee

Just playing with you, friend. But man people are insane.
I agree with the person mentioning people getting rid of dogs they have. Trashy. Terrible.

The other part of the rationale is to help make sure the person has the financial means to take care of the dog. It is a non-perfect way to make sure it is going to a good home when you don't know the people.
Why can’t they just do like normal people and judge the person.. off looks and their automobile?

Yeah I agree.
But paying $300 for a fee to adopt a pet is crazy.

LMAO. Good point.

For real.
If I have a New Iberia haircut and truck nuts, it’s safe to say I will be entering the dachshund in a dog fight.
Yukon and suit and tie? Not so much.

That’s the fee people pay to the puppy mill to be able to claim their new dog is a rescue.

My family works with a local rescue & I have spent some time at our local shelter
I do think a lot of the rules they have are too strict, if you are trying to adopt a 5 lb. dog & you get turned down because you live in an apartment that is stupid
If you are trying to adopt a large dog & live a mile off the road on 5 acres & you get turned down because you don’t have a fence that is stupid

What do you mean by "You People"? That kind of hurt my feelings.

The thought of using a dog in this way makes me sick. I have no sympathy for the human trash who fight dogs.

In Texas they do it because you cant sell a dog without a license in most cities/counties. It's supposed to cover the cost of puppy shots and care up to that point. Deter people from picking up free pups and using them as bait dogs.
This is the correct answer.

Because if you post “free dog” you will be flooded with trashy people who want to come get it.
By even just adding a nominal amount (like $100) you instantly weed out all of those people.
And if someone can’t afford the $100 then they can’t afford to have a dog anyway

I do think an ad saying “dog for adoption please send a photo of you standing in front of your car” would give you some interesting insights but for most people a minor fee proves you aren’t just gathering up free bait dogs and you can afford to feed it.

That’s kinda the point of it, if they go over it, they are looking for specific people.

The price for the pet. They are selling a pet. They are just too big of pussies to call it that because omg they just love animals so much and theyre part of the family

A lot of culcha type folks get free dogs and let their pitt bulls kill them for dog fighting practice.
