If the NFL is smart, the will keep players in the locker room for the anthem, however, Roger Goodell does not strike me as doing the smart thing in this situation.

The NFL’s new partners Jay Z and Kaep (wait for it because it’s coming) will not let the league off this easily.

Kaepernick will be on the NFL payroll this year as a “consultant” and he will make 8 figures per year.

You see it as him apologizing for “not recognizing their stance” because he answered a direct question. What was he to do? Start off like a politician with a three paragraph pandering then sugar coat an answer? Why is it that anyone must “recognize their stance”? It’s fascist group think. It’s evolving from “you disagree and I will scream about it” to “you don’t even acknowledge our righteous movement!”

A hundred bucks says he kneels. Matter of fact, he'll probably lead a group kneel with a bunch of his teammates.

It's much simpler than all that. What the flag means to Brees is different than what the flag means to John Doe (for whatever John Doe's reason is). Brees made a blanket statement dismissing John Doe's stance. Once he realized John Doe's reason, he apologized for his blanket statement. Quite simple, really.

Just stop playing the anthem . Other countries don’t play an anthem before a sporting event .

Yeah, it really is pretty stupid. On a typical Fall Saturday, there are, what, several hundred college football games happening? So big groups of people stand around and listen to the anthem thousands of times per season? At what point do we say enough is enough and give everyone their time back?

I personally think he’s going to work with the rest of the team and they’ll all do something together

Not that it matters to Drew Brees, but I think he is a spineless coward.
By explaining his experience during the national anthem, he did nothing wrong. People that criticized him are stupid and fanatical. Brees should not have apologized, he is right explaining the national anthem is not the proper time for protest. Why is it ok for people to disrespect all those who have given their lives for this country? They should apologize. Brees gave up what he valued because he is weak.
frick those critics.

He will likely lead the Kneel for the Saints. They'll lock arms... all look at Drew, he'll kneel first and everyone else will follow suit.

Yep. He could have made a very respectful response that stood up for his beliefs, while also respecting the beliefs of others.

It was a great opportunity, but he was too big of a pussy to seize it

I just don't know how you can even respect yourself after you took such a stand on standing up for the courageousness exemplified in your grandfathers who fought for this country, and as soon as words come your way, you immediately get on your knees and kiss their arse, showing that you have ZERO courage that your own grandfathers had, and its not like you’re even taking bullets or avoiding an MG42 on the beach or anything. NO SIR... All you had to do was take a stand and go home to your multi millions and awesome family. Come on man. Seriously?

If he stands, the media shitstorm and the death threats return with a vengeance because he has Lapsed back into White Supremacy.

He'd better kneel his arse down if he knows what's good for him, his wife and his children.

You see him standing after all this?
He bent the knee figuratively to the mob. He will continue to physically bend the knee.

There is no chance that Brees will stand for the anthem. He will kneel, and he will be interviewed after the game, so that he can gush over the privilege of being able to protest against systemic racism, his grandfathers be damned.

I'm sure he'll be very proud when he looks and sees his wife and children kneeling, also.

He’s gonna throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs because that’s what he does.

Anyone who doesn’t kneel is going to be called a racist. This is going to be a shite show.

He won't. He's going through intensive "diversity training" AKA "re-education" as we speak. His mind will be right by the start of the season.

You should get out of your house. Go to the lake or play a round of golf. Who gives a shite about what anyone does outside of you and your family.

Stop playing into the game.

This is as dangerous a notion as any that I've read on this site.

Such a mindset prevents society from flourishing.

Apathy breeds injustice that breeds outright hatred.

Empathy and understanding are the only ways forward.
