Tom 100% won the Social Media war. He got out of it well before it turned into a war zone between political parties.
I just got lost in his instagram page from that link. Dude lives one hell of a life.

I actually loved being able to control the layout and page design through custom HTML
This was the downfall for me. People having ten videos and three different songs starting at the same time plus sparkly shite all over their page slowed your computer to a crawl. Some people's pages I had to stop going to because there was so much crap on it. Facebook's layout was much simpler.

This is widely regarded as the reason Facebook “won”. The MySpace layout was cool for teens, that’s about it.

I was a high school computer nerd with a deep knowledge of HTML and had my own website at the time, so I put a bunch of effort into it and my profile page was really well done and professional looking. I miss being able to do that but it was all worth it to no longer have to put up with other people's shitty profiles.
Facebook really ought to allow more customization, but they would obviously need to do it in a much more controlled manner. Not just letting anyone sling their own HTML code into the mix

It’s where WE are organizing very stealth.

Everybody realized that Tom was a dick and no one wanted to be his friend anymore.

Youd think with all the bs with FB there could be a resurgence for MySpace.

What happened is MySpace allowed you to put music and videos and all sorts of shite on your profile which was annoying and made it load slow as shite back in the slow internet days of 2002-2005ish, then Facebook came along in 2004 with a much cleaner interface, only allowed college kids to get on which made it seem cooler because you little brother in 9th grade couldn’t get on. Then facebook allowed everyone to get on so all the previously restricted people flocked to it because they wanted to be one of the cool kids.

Personally I preferred MySpace to Facebook

I have never had any of that social media shite...but based on comments in this thread, I checked out his Instagram page.
Pretty damn cool.
Congrats to him...looks like he is having a blast.

And the MySpace approach might do better nowadays but in 2007ish wireless internet speeds just struggled

I wonder if DJ Jubilee's "Get Ready, Ready" is still playing on my page.

I miss having a custom homepage and my favorite music playing on it

You're absolutely right about that. Didn't know that Tom lived that great of a life after Myspace. Much respect to him.
