The orange drink at McDonalds birthday parties was the best. Somehow they only served it at birthday parties and it came in one of those igloo dispensers.

I have pictures form my childhood of birthday parties at McDonald’s. If you did that nowadays the OT would call you poor as frick.

I want to make something very clear.

There was never a time that having a birthday party at McDonald's was anything other than for the poors.

Have to have some rosy as frick tinted glasses to think anything else.

Mostly liability claims but the employees and clientele of fast food places started to decline in the late 90's and early 2000's.

Raising minimum wage killed the fast food industry.

It went from kids trying to get some scratch and life experience to adults who have hit their peak of existence at a fast food joint.
Is it any wonder why the attitude of employees has shifted closer to the DMV?

Not exactly.

The original McD type food place in post WWII was designed for people w/cars -- still not universal at the time. Soon it became a hangout for high school ages (who thirty years before had hung out, BION, in the fountain sections of drugstores -- hence the expression "drugstore cowboy". Drugstore fountains were the fathers of fast food.)

Eventually after several decades fast food did become associated w/the poor. I am convinced this is due, at least in part, to the decline of the nuclear family, especially the black family. In the '90s I read that 20% of blacks in the US eat at McD's at least once a week.

Pretty sure McDonald’s got sued or something for marketing to kids, causing childhood obesity or some shite. So they changed to marketing for poor minorities

I don’t remember Burger King ever being a cool place for kids bday parties

Everyone is poor now. We all just carry more debt to appear not poor.

At what point was it the "in" thing to have a 17th birthday party at McDonalds?

Where did all the money come from these days? Everyone has much nicer cars and houses and spends 10x what we used to in restaurants. I don't understand what happened.

I'm sure they couldn't find enough low wage workers to clean the shite and vomit out of the play equipment.

yeah but the Whooper is still a great burger.

Outside of an egg Mcmuffin breakfast or coffee, I can't think of anything i would want from McD.
