Currently wearing Red Wings as I couldn't find another pair of the Doc's when mine got trashed with mud.

Red Wings are awesome. I have a pair on right now that I've owned for about 17 years. It's usually worth the extra money to buy good boots/shoes.

They're back. For girls, anyway.

I still wear birkenstocks during the summer. I started wearing them at LSU when it was hot in the 90s and have owned a pair ever since

Yep. Everybody I know that's ever worn a pair of Birkenstocks have always had a pair of Birkenstocks as their go-to shoe.

If you have high arches and or wide feet nothing even comes close. The one mistake a lot of people make is not wetting them and standing in them. You supposed to soak the soles in water, preferably warm water and then stand in them barefoot perfectly still for like 15 minutes or as long as you can and they will form to your feet.

High arch, wide foot or both?

I'm both and I've looked for years for a comfortable pair of shoes to hang around in and I slipped into my sister-in-law's Birkenstocks one time and I never got out of them. Giggity.

I went through every kind of work boot you could imagine and took me a while to figure that one out too. Every brand I ever tried would blow out around me toe joint from kneeling within about six months to 10 months.

Settled on surprisingly, a pair of keen hiking low tops that's hinged at the toe joint. Each pair Ive had has lasted two years.

Steel toe work boots I've has for 15 years, and they've walked on three continents. They'll likely outlast my marriage.

I used to wear brown slip on Doc's to work for years. They were super comfortable and the inside wore out before the outside did. Those gum soles lasted forever.

Based on another post in here I looked it up and they are all made in Thailand and China now. After their popularity waned they were forced to shift production. That kind of sucks.

Not true, though they cost more.

Made In England

I've had England made ones and very recent ones from you know where, and I can't say the quality has suffered much.

They make all kinds of cool ones these days - the Bosch hell one is still one of my faves.

I bought my first docs in 1989 when I was in school in Manchester England. I now have a pair of vegetarian docs I wear to meetings and bars.

The brown slip ons are my husband's go to work shoe. Everything else wears out too fast or he complains is uncomfortable.
