I was able to special order a 2008 Tundra with a bench seat. The salesman thought I was crazy but they bought the truck back for $500 less than I paid for it FOUR YEARS later.

2000's Silverados had a console that flipped up and down on the middleseat to form a bench. It was called a something like a 3/4 or 2/1 bench.

60/40 bench seat. It was standard on many models IIRC with buckets optional.

My 2000 extended cab had power buckets. Driver and passenger.

My 2016 Tundra has the same.

I have fond memories of being buckled into the same seatbelt as my brother in my grandfather’s truck in the mid 80’s.

Bench seats are cool because you can park and just slide across it to get out on the sidewalk. I notice this when watching old shows or movies.

Agreed.

Took my grandfathers dodge out as a youngster that just got his license and fingerbanged my lady interest due to her sitting next to me.

Smelled that finger the whole way home

Snow and ice can/does build up on them up north here. Retractables avoid this.

Also, if you don't use them leaving them retracted avoids getting your pants dirty.

However lots of good things started with those seats!

Although, 40 year old me values my cup holders and storage space in my center console. 18 year old me, different story

I'm white trash and took the bench out of the '97 Silverado to use as a lounger in the hall space before my kitchen by the laundry stack. Never looked back and has paid dividends too plentiful to describe

It adds a touch of a certain class that not all folks can appreciate, but it's been a dead on balls furnishment piece

On top of that I can fit like 6 passengers indian style in the back cab as long as they don't mind getting under some gear and knocking knees

A single sentence that instantly took me back to the days of being a kid in the 80’s.

Thanks for the memories man.

My 2019 F150 XLT has a bench seat - as did my previous 2004 F150 - I see tons of them.

If you want a bench seat the base work truck in the back row may have one.

LOL, nope. Even my work trucks have a flip up split back seat with storage underneath, one has a backup cam in the mirror and power windows, the other has keyless entry and a backup cam. Paid $23K each for 2 work edition V6 trucks in 2020, each with about 30K miles on them now. They are selling for well over $30K now, if you can find one. FJB
I am pleased with the 18-20 mpg that full size V6 is getting though.

My first ride was a 78 Chevy Bonanza. I started driving in 2004...

It had the bench row seat. I always felt like a pimp opening the driver door for my gf to slide in to her seat. Chivalry was not dead.

That thing was a tank. A friend had an early 90s dodge truck and we would often just bump into each other at (5 mph or so) at red lights. I miss that truck.

You had a camper shell??? Damn, that's luxury.

We just had the wheel wells, the bed and for the more adventurous, sitting on the side rails rolling down the street----then the law got involved and stopped that.

I have bench seats in my '86 Suburban. I mentioned replacing them and the wife said she loved em.

Cake has this one covered....

quote:

Stickshifts and safetybelts
Bucket seats have all got to go
When we're driving in the car
It makes my baby seem so far

I need you here with me
Not way over in a bucket seat
I need you to be here with me
Not way over in a bucket seat

But when we're driving in my Malibu
It's easy to get right next to you
I say, "Baby, scoot over, please"
And then she's right there next to me
