What grade would you give JBE in his handling of this entire COVID situation?

At first, I thought his response was fairly reasonable, considering the uncertainty of the situation.
But now, he is making a bad situation worse with the extension of the order.

At first a B+. Based on the knowledge he had at the time, he did what he should have.
Now, F. He has the data to show that we will not overwhelm our hospital system yet he extends the stay at home order. For what?? There was absolutely zero reason to extend the order. It's ridiculous at this point.

I can be on board with this. The timing of this coinciding with Mardi Gras was just unfortunate. Coupled with the uncertainty at the time, I don't take much issue with the initial response.
What he's doing now is stupid.

As a Louisiana native who isn't living there any longer, can someone give me some insight as to how he's handled it so bad? Is it extending the order for Louisiana as a whole for the sake of New Orleans (which seems to be the only Louisiana city that was hit really bad)? Or do you guys think even New Orleans is ready to start opening back up?
I can see one being frustrated about not opening up the rest of the state. But from afar (and I can't emphasize the "from afar" enough, I'm not there so I'm genuinely curious about your perspectives), it seems like New Orleans could probably use another week or two to continue to decrease the number of cases all the while that extra time gets us closer to more testing capacity which will allow cities open back up a good bit. In addition, a city like New Orleans is already screwed economically because tourism won't be 100% back to normal for a while. So why not take an extra week or so to make sure you prevent another large second wave? It's not like people will be flocking to New Orleans/Bourbon street the second restrictions are lifted.

NOLA isn't the reason it's being extended

His midterm grade would have been a B+ after a strong, transparent, reasonable start. But he’s been coasting these last few weeks and is trending down around a D as we head into finals. Could finish with a C- if he closes this out strong and reopens ASAP, but could also plummet to an F if he keeps delaying reopening
