re: Data for you to ponder tonight: insurers are not the villain. Providers are

If anyone thinks payments to doctors are the problem in this healthcare equation, than they literally don't have a f-ing clue how this works.
If someone is using insurance, doctor's don't get to decide how much they get to charge a patient. That number is set by Medicare- i.e. the federal government. All insurance companies base their payment to doctors as a percentage of the medicare allowable. Sometimes it's a little higher than the Mediare allowable, but often times it is significantly less. Since 2001 physician payment from Medicare (and therefore insurance companies) has drop 29% when adjusted for inflation.
How many other industries are getting paid 29% less than they did 20 years ago?

There won't be a runoff.
Troy Carter will win easily in the primary.

re: Eye lens replacement

It really just depends on the situation. Lens Replacement can be a good option and give good vision at all distances- depending on the type of implant used. However, those lenses work much better when they’re used in both eyes. If you only do one eye, you won’t get the full benefit. Doing one eye if like listening to surround sound and one of the speakers isn’t quite right.
Also, $6000 per eye if definitely a very high price for this surgery.

Oh Sherrie wasn't a Journey song. It was a Steve Perry solo number.

Noticed my vision had gotten worse recently so I had an eye exam. The OD said no sign of glaucoma or retinal disease, but I have cataracts, probably genetic, not age related. Glasses won't improve my vision and I need surgery, wants to refer me to an eye surgeon. Does this sound plausible? Should I get a second opinion?
How old are you? Did the OD say they were congenital cataracts? Typically congenital cataracts don't progress. Are you having trouble seeing at distance or at near or both?

Anyone use this?
Yes- Have been using it for about 9 months. You can't just put cash directly into your account. You have to convert it to some type of crypto. I converted some cash into stablecoin (USDC) and also put some Bitcoin I had into the account. Stablecoins currently pay 9% up to 40,000 and 8% abouve 40,000. bitcoin pays 4.5% up to 0.1 BTC and less above that. Have been very happy with their customer service as well. Biggest negative imo is that if you're in Louisiana you can't buy crypto directly from Blockfi. You have to use coinbase or another exchange to buy the crypto and then transfer it to Blockfi
You played that Sporcle quiz this morning too, huh?
While I agree that these rules are overkill, the fact is, for the season at least, any player that is not vaccinated has a very good chance of being forced to miss extended time because of COVID exposure. This could happen more than once too.
I think the rules are ridiculous, but that's just the way it is right now.
It will be interesting to see what these coaches and schools do when they have to forfeit a game because they have too many unvaccinated kids get exposed and they are forced to quarantine making them unable to field a team. Depending on the timing they may be forced to forfeit two games.
I think the pressure for these players to get vaccinated is going to get turned up big time when this starts happening.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told by a high school athletic director just this week that if a player is fully vaccinated, even if he has a close contact to someone with COVID (at a game/practice or in the classroom), they are not required to quarantine at all- unless they also become symptomatic or test positive.
I believe that is the LHSAA protocol for someone who is not vaccinated.
For someone that is vaccinated, they do not have to quarantine unless they test positive themselves or become symptomatic.
Whether people like it or not, those are the rules.
Also, if a team can't play a game because they have too many players in quarantine, it doesn't get rescheduled. It is a forfeit.

re: Have you had the COVID and have now taken the vaccine?

Had COVID in December.
Got both doses of the Pfizer vaccine- had very little reaction to either shot. Just a little extra tired the day after both doses.
