Winn dixie just had a lot on sale. I got a lot of nice cuts for 5.99 a lb yesterday.

Looks like they have "USDA inspected" beef tenderloin for $5.99/lb. I don't think grade matters much for that cut if meat. Going to have to pick some up this weekend.

Come on, man! If that dude really said that, maybe butcher ain't his real life calling.

The tube of ground meat? That crap is 60/40 beef/fat ratio.

I guess it would be cheaper if you own the land

Thankfully that's us even though we live 6 hours away. Always have venison in the freezer and every March we buy half a steer from a rancher up there that we get processed into roasts, steaks, and ground beef. That ground beef coming out of the tube is the closest you get to ground meat heaven. We've got cube steaks and a few roasts left so we do a good job rationing it.

Last year we went up just as things were closing down. We were sitting in the building for the rifle range as our state announced a shutdown and I literally grabbed my kid's arm mid-clip so he'd stop using ammo. Kind of crazy when your two early COVID memories are that and a TD poster's escape from China a month before it started to spread here.

That’s what people buy so they mark it up. Go to your local butcher.

Yep. Started going to the butcher for my meat in December and I’ll never go back.

ETA: back to the supermarkets, I mean.

I buy a side of beef every 5-6 months. I also grind most of my own ground meat from that. I paid about $5.50/lb butchered and wrapped last week.

We go to the farmer's market and buy our meat from the Amish meat counter. Much better than anything you find in grocery stores.

The cheaper meats (Rancher's Choice) are older cows plus the meat is imported from Mexico.

Bought one of those cheaper meat beef tenderloins from Winn-Dixie for my sandwich challenge submission. The chain makes for a very good cheesesteak sandwich.

"I wasn't a hamburger, so I didn't say anything"

First they came for the hamburger, but I didn't say anything because I wasn't a hamburger

Then they came for the pork roast, but I didn't say anything because I wasn't a pork roast

Then they came for the tilapia, but I didn't say anything because I wasn't a tilapia

Then they came for me, but they threw me back because I am frozen broccoli pieces.
