Without onions it is a hamburger for me. Still don't eat it though.
I hated meatloaf, until I made it myself. Step number one is micro dice a ton of onion…

Mom wasn't happy, but she never gave me another tuna fish sandwich.

Mayonnaise
still hate the smell, texture and taste.
I have used it in desperation when I needed an egg for baking and the last egg in the carton was bad.

We were poor as shite, there was no "I'm not eating that" growing up.

Celery. People who claim it doesn't taste like anything are out of their minds.

Green peas
Shucked corn
Brussel Sprouts
I was good with everything else for the most part. We never did SPAM or anything like that, but bologna, olive loaf, and lunchmeat, etc were lunch staples.
Back around 1975, I think, I have a very vivid memory of it snowing in Kenner one winter evening, and my parents wouldn't let me go outside until I ate all my Brussel sprouts. I remember a very difficult, crying, tantrum, and choking them down until I was done, so I could experience it. My parents had "don't give a frick" determination in teaching lessons. Happy they raised me that way.

And most other peas and beans, with the exception of green beans.
But let's be clear - there was no "refusal" on my part. I ate what was put in front of me.

Growing up, i hated pizza.. i am ancient, so when i was a kid going out to Pizza Hut wasn’t exactly fine dining, but it was actually a respectable place to have a sit down meal.. however, i hated pizza so when i was 3 or 4 my go-to was always the spaghetti and meatballs.. i can still remember the red plastic ‘booster chairs’ i would sit in, and the late 70s/early 80s decor of the restaurants .. also one time we had an end of season pizza party for my little league baseball team when i was like 7, at this pizza place on Williams Blvd in Kenna, i think it was called Pizza Man He Delivers or maybe SuperPizza, something like that.. of course i was the only kid who didnt want pizza so again had to do spaghetti and meatballs, which i didnt much mind .
Now as a grown adult pizza is one of my all time favorite foods .

Mayonnaise is the nastiest substance on the planet.. thought so as a kid, think so now and if i live to be 100 my opinion will never change .
I try to avoid it all all costs since the smell makes me want to hurl.. whenever im back in America i have to ask like three times for them to ‘hold the mayo’ and half the time they still frick it up.. especially in NOLA when im getting a poboy .
