There was a time in college when I had to save up to pay for a speeding ticket. I bought the tube of pre-made soy patties and a loaf of bread. bottle of ketchup and one of mustard. I could live off that for two weeks. Did it for like 4 weeks and gave plasma 2-3 times a week to make extra money. I ended up buying one of those big packs of frozen meatballs. You can't imagine how many different ways you can prepare meatballs. Just as cheap and way more sustainable than stupid soy patties and white bread only.

Me and a bud started working offshore in 81 in Houma.
We had a place to stay, but little money for food.
We bought that peanut butter and jelly that was premixed in one jar.
That shite sucked.
It was so dry, when you tried to spread it, it would just tear holes in the bread.

Good food and good alcohol. About once a week (sometimes more), we’ll go out to one of 3 restaurants at which we are regulars. We have a starter, we get salads, entrees, and we accompany the food with an assortment of cocktails, wine, and whiskey. Depending on the restaurant, we usually drop between $200 and $300 after tip. If you add up all the other food we eat through the week, it doesn’t come close to what we spend on those dinners. It’s something we can easily fit into our budget, so it’s not like we’re spending irresponsibly, but it’s definitely the biggest thing a financial planner would tell me to change and put that money towards something else. frick that, though, it’s totally worth it.
We also travel a decent amount and I made the mistake of flying Delta One once. Can’t go back with the unwashed masses, now.
