Seiko
Seiko has been doing some legit designs in the last four or so years.
I keep seeing things I like and then realizing it's a Seiko. I like watches and have a small but decent collection. It's in danger of getting overwhelmed with Seiko's though and I quit buying them because I have three at this point.

This thing is ugly as sin, IMO
My daily wear is a Bulova that's just a clean silver with a brown band. Classic, timeless. Also pretty cheap as far as watches go. Stock photo online for reference:

Those are WAY too busy for my taste, but you gotta do you.

Respectfully, the Bulova has far too many lines, colors, and markings for my taste. It's not a watch that you give a casual glance to check the time. To me, it has to be "studied" so you can read it correctly.
However, to each his own, so if you like it, and can check it easier or faster than me, go for it.

Also, I would not buy a decent watch from Amazon. Buy from a reputed standalone online dealer such as Jomashop or Long Island if you don't buy from a local jeweler. Amazon seems to be having a lot of trouble with fake items from China lately.

The latter won't be possible at less than $2k.
I just bought a watch from a Swiss made microbrand called Farer. They have some swiss movements available under $2k, and some are even sub $1k. You should check them out.

I would not trust this watch.
It probably doesn't keep it's word.

I have a Bulova Grammy edition. The face, hands, and Fram are cast from the same gold blended material that Grammy awards are cast from. Its probably the most classically beautiful and interesting watch I own.

This Sinatra edition Bulova looks pretty classy

That same Bulova that I lust after is more than the version on Amazon. Should be a dead giveaway.

of the three i like the third best but still not much.
i have a seiko myself. i like it. black and gold. about $500 and i have gotten compliments on it many occasion. 500 is about the most id spend on a watch. i dont need a super nice one.

Any of those $30 watches will do. Especially if you want your wrist to turn green.

Are you saying you can't get a Swiss watch under 2k?

I recently learned about Seiko "mods" and am interested.
Basically there is a huge aftermarket of parts that fit seiko movements and folks mix and match. You can get a one of a kind just how you want it.
Seiko mods examples
I wear a citizen eco-drive as a all around watch. I never have to touch it, it keeps perfect time and it looks nice and I'm really hard on watches.

I just ordered one as a beater/travel watch. I'll let you know how it is when I get it next week.

Which one did you get? I'm really curious to see what you think when you get it.

I am intrigued with the new Seiko 5 GMTs. I plan to order one as a travel watch but will be changing the bracelet to probably a rubber strap when Uncle Seiko has them to fit so someone doesn't mistake the President looking bracelet for a Rolex and liberate it from me in some far-flung place like a favela in Rio.
As for the OP's Bulova v Citizen v Seiko:
All of them make great watches just buy what you like. Out of the three, I prefer Seiko but mainly because Seiko has more designs that I like mainly because they do a lot more mechanical watches.
