Commercial real estate for office space will crash and never get back to where it was.
This will fundamentally change the society towards stay-at-home.
This is what I was thinking. If people settle into the work from home thing. Businesses may realize they don't need as much office space.

I think you will see a tech infrastructure boom across the board. There will be a boom in information tech and bio technology . Larger hospitals, larger EMS sercices....i.e. Acadian Ambulance may have competition. Actual physical construction boom.
We have to get a handle on this first, then things will take off.

Currency exchange in stores will shift more to electronic, I see paper & coin money becoming damn near extinct. I think even credit card exchange becomes less of a thing bc of all the yes/no questions that have to be answered on the point of sale cc machine. Electronic pay from a smart phone will most likely take over point of sale.

I mean, you don't really think we're having this Adult Snow Day due to anything other than laziness, right?

I work from home half the time already. I can guarantee you most people will tire of it.

Hopefully no one watches the news anymore.

Man....I lurk a lot, but in the midst of taking care of kids at home (one with severe asthma) and worried to death I still can laugh at some of y’all’s comments and to be honest it’s a great thing at a time like this.
I was watching Wuhan a month and a half ago and went out and ordered 60 N95 masks, 3 extra boxes of Clorox wipes, three packs of latex gloves and two sets of wrap around goggles and everyone was looking at me in my family like I was crazy and even I was telling myself I was being waaaay paranoid.
Glad I have them now even if it is just a small security blanket.
I have two weeks worth of food and meds...as it goes for my house we will hunker down for the next two weeks and pray this next wave of infection (that’s coming due to stupidity of others who some how failed to get the memo) isn’t that bad or at least slows. I am thinking obviously that many who didn’t before will NOW take this serious and within one month the curve will flatten some.

de-emphasize urban areas, especially major urban areas

Maybe over a long, long period of time. Rapid de-urbanization would just collapse the economy all over again in terms of real estate.

Oh yeah it also doesn’t help that pollen is high and allergies are flaring with my whole family. I have had allergy issues off and on for a month...lol...lots of folks including me are paranoid, but I can’t blame them and yet at the same time I know most of us have a cold or allergies and not the wu-tang...but damn this time of year lol for this to happen

Eat honey from a local producer if that is at all possible.

Smaller restaurants will learn to appreciate Door Dash and Uber Eats.

What would you suggest?

My cousin in law actually does this. He extracts the bees and brings them to his organic farm and has tons of honey....good thinking

Higher education shifts online.
You Professors and Administration staff had a good run and made a lot of money over a long period of time, but it's over.
It's time to downsize Universities and the enormous cost you have created to view a lecture and gain an education.
Which SUCKS for the 4 year party/socializing that comes with most colleges.

Yeah, not happening any time soon. Not everyone has smartphones or credit cards. Cash is fool proof while debit/credit machines can go down. Have you never been in a hurricane or place where cash is simple vs cards?

Mandatory sick pay for hourly workers will be a huge emphasis .
