50 isn't dumb money, it is a good thing for Shreveport that his financial team thinks it is a good investment.

Ratchet city does have a cool downtown. After the casinos moved in it seemed to die out. Lots of musical history there. Elvis, Hank sr and jr and Leadbelly got their start there.

With Dallas growing the way it is I can see Shreveport being a cheaper option for some people. Mild climate, interstate access, 3/4 of a loop, and there's talk about a amtract route between Dallas and Jackson.

We’ve tried everything else under the sun to revitalize the city, so why not let 50 give it a try? His humor and harmony festival was a massive success and done very well. I welcome his efforts.

That is absolutely not true. While the festival was successful,

Like he said, the huge festival, put together in 90 days, went off without a hitch and by all measures was successful.

Just think about how much loss he can claim when no one rents office space in his building.

How can he claim a loss for people not renting?

He used to live around the corner from me and then his house burned down. People thought he did it, but I say "no way" because his daughter was inside and he absolutely adored (adores) her. He would bring her to school, do her braids, make sure she was pretty and presentable, just fawned over her. Really good dad.

That’s what we need. More investment into youth programs.

That’s it? 2.4m makes one a real estate mogul in downtown S’port?

His properties are mostly bars, vacant lots and places for hip hop venues.
I question whether he is the second largest property owner in downtown and the "article" from which this is drawn is anonymous. And it cites no source for the claim either.
If Shreveport's future is as a rap venue, then Fiddy is certainly one way to start it.

Quite the opposite so far - when he has an event, there are plenty of cops around. The vagrants, gangbangers, and junkies largely go elsewhere.

He seems to be the first downtown promoter who recognizes that if you allow the kids to drag Texas, ghetto to hang out in the parking lots, and the homeless to panhandle and otherwise annoy, people won't come downtown.

No clue but good for him. Maybe he's a gambler and TX is, well....TX. But any money pumped into DT Shreveport could be a good thing as it's pretty ghetto, very poor. Much scarier that DT BR at night. Cross that political river and BC is a different story.
