They get reincarnated into pets again.
Only if they were bad pets would they get reincarnated into humans.

It depends, but if you travel to Ludlow, Maine, you can have your pet up and going again in no time, with perhaps a few minor behavioral changes.

As they should, and any other living thing that eats babies. They go to hell too. For eating babies.

What could a soul be? Memories? If memories were purely metaphysical then they wouldn't be affected by things like old age or brain damage but they are.

So is a soul our personality? Again the way we think and behave change over time and can be affected by chemicals in the brain or brain damage.

The definition of a soul just says that it's the spiritual or immortal part of a person. Well what are its properties? Words like essence and spirit in this sense are vague and meaningless.

What, specifically does our soul encompass that cannot be attributed to our brain?

Nothing happens to dogs. They got to lick their balls their whole life, they’ve already had their heaven.

reincarnation

i had a dog a few years back that was about the best dog i ever met.

he died kinda unexpectedly and we decided no to get another one.

couple months passed and my wife and i somehow texted each other the same craigslist ad for a puppy. without having ever talked to each other (or the kids about another dog).

so without hesitation, i went get him.

turns out this dog was born the same day my previous dog died.
he’s eerily similar to my old dog and his favorite spot to lay out in the sun is where my old dog is buried.

Circling back to the original intent of this thread. I know this subject matter pops up on this board every now and then. For the purposes of this thread, though, I'm particularly interested to know how Christians reconcile their beliefs and hopes about the afterlife for pets with the bleak interpretations of theologians like the one mentioned my original post.

I don’t have the correct answers to any of those questions. Neither does anyone in this thread.

Much of the supporting argument against humans having a soul that I have seen centers around the idea that man is just a bag of meat no different than any other animal. These people say there is no evidence that an afterlife or soul exists. However using their same logic there is also no evidence that man isn’t special. The evidence is to the contrary: We are the only intelligent beings at out level that we know about in the universe. Now you can say: But one day we will find others. Maybe, but you are employing faith based on your belief, no different than a religious person.

If there is an afterlife we will all find out after we die. If there isn’t an afterlife we will never know.

It always amazes me how many people, with complete certainty, assumes there is nothing after death, while looking down with righteous indignation on those who do believe in an afterlife. Science cannot prove it either way

Exactly. If the ‘no afterlife’ people are correct they will never know.

So effectively they are believing in something without evidence that if true they can never determine.

All of our data to this point in time shows that Man is unique in the universe.
