IMO the true "after life" is the impact that we had on those around us. As long as there are still those around that remember us we will never truly die. Human or Animal.

My wife and I were taken aback by his candid response, but here was a man of the cloth who parents had entrusted their children to be spiritually guided by providing a concrete answer based on his expert knowledge of Scripture to a child's question. Who were we to argue?

Sounds like you have it all figured out for the rest of us.
None of you ‘smarter than anyone here’ types in this thread have any idea what happens after death. Your faith that nothing happens is no different than another person’s faith in an afterlife.
