It's all relative, and depends.

Depends on where you're comparing it to, what your career looks like, and whether or not you like far flung suburbs. There's a lot of negatives in the city (most of which also exist in Baton Rouge) but there's a lot of positives to the metro area in general.

I've spent a bit of time there over the years. Really like the midtown and Buckhead areas.

Preach.

90% of the posters on tigerdroppings that shite on atlanta have only ever been here to go to a game in the dome and that's the only part they know. It'd be like someone basing their whole entire opinion of new orleans on the french quarter and walking from there to the superdome. Like no shite that's not a good area but that's not where you woudl live and raise a damn family.

As mentioned, Atlanta is fricking awesome because there is a little nook for literally any walk of life that you are. Nearing retirement, young and single, young with family, straight, gay, black, white, business professional, hippie, eclectic, stoner, drunkard, straight edge, WHATEVER. There is somewhere ITP that suits you. And there are many areas just OTP that are really, really great places to live that are less than 10 miles to downtown.

I’ll add that the cost of living in Atlanta is extremely cheap too. At least by large city standards.

I'm not a falcons fan so your insult falls flat. Sorry.

Compared to boston yeah lol. It's not exactly "cheap" though, I don't think.

Left Atlanta for Tampa in 2007. Spent most of my life in ATL. Left mostly due to traffic and the fact the “Southern Charm” had long since passed away.

Still have a brother there and visit at least once or twice a year. To Atlanta’s credit the City is getting much better. Lots of economic activity. It is without question the economic capital of the Southeast.

There are areas that I couldn’t imagine visiting in the late 90’s and early 2000’s that are now trendy such as Decatur.

Traffic still sucks. Housing is relatively inexpensive. Not a bad choice for an educated professional.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought in comparison to other major cities, it was on the lower end.

The only thing the Atlanta haters in this thread can come up with is the results of the Falcons professional football team.
Sounds like a lot of people have no clue.

But, I can tell you this: It's a big city that has everything you'd want. Concerts, restaurants, night life. some times it can have too much. Traffic is terrible.

Lived on the Northside for three years. Never a shortage of things to do, plenty of great restaurants, every type of retail store I could want within two miles of my house. Overall was not a bad place to call home, traffic was a deal breaker though and I'll never go back.
