I don't even look at the charges when the wife puts something like this together, and I demand that she do the same with my extra-curriculars

I did this 13 years ago for about 50 bucks, 8 years ago for about 75. I have another coming up in 4 months and won't spend more then 75. Big pot of jambalaya, grandma's cake, and some balloons. Child won't know the difference. He/she will be more entertained by the balloons then anything else. I've know people to spend what had to be 1000's on one year old or two year old parties - or any party for that matter. Silly arse people....

I have no idea what your wife is planning or how much she wants to spend. Last one we had for a 2 year old was for my nephew. We had a cake, balloons, lots of family from both sides and some close friends who also had kids of various ages. Didn't rent any bouncy things or anything else. It was December and it was cold and rainy. The 2 year old and the kids had a blast playing with toys and helping him unwrap gifts. It was mid afternoon and my family all cooked pick up foods and lots of them. Same thing we did for the 1st birthday. I filmed all of it and it was a fun family/friends event that worked out perfectly.

Not sure what will happen for the 3rd birthday. He will have started nursery school, so there could be an off site party early, but he'd be happy with most anything. He's happy when other kids are around at his house. The mother is pregnant with the second child and will have section either on the birthday of the 2 year old or the day after. We'll see.

Do whatever y'all and the child will enjoy. It doesn't have to cost a lot of money at that age to have a successful party the child will enjoy. Sometimes, I think parents feel pressure to "top" other parties they've attended for young children. For me, during the first 2 to 3 years, it's really about gathering family and friends and a few kids for the child. Then the type of party changes as they get older and more social being in nursery school etc... Matters more to the child to make it special as they get older although he's already attended some destination parties, but those kids were a bit older. Those are my thoughts, though. Different strokes for different folks.

Probably about $100, but that was 32 years ago. And, we have never tried to keep up with the Jonses, IYKWIM.

I honestly can't remember. Both kids had well planned 1st bdays, but the 2nd and 3rd year were lack luster, they weren't really to a friend point, and the family doesn't care as much as the 1st one. Then my daughter's 4th and especially 5th were bigger to do's. That's the age where it really means something to them, and they have little friends in class to invite.

Kids will never remember them and I don't go to them and that's an understanding we have here. Stupid waste of money an interacting with people.

Not as much as my kids christening, but that was a seated lunch for 100 of our closest friends with cocktails etc. At the local country club.

It was at The Little Gym. $315 for themed party. $40 Albertsons cake. I did nothing. They sent the invites out, set up, cleaned up. I just sat there and watched. Worth every dime.

2nd birthday.

At your house or in a park. Cake, food served to guests, ice cream, and favors that all you need for #2.
Maybe 200 tops depending on the guests.

I spend less than 100.00 on all shite like that. Throw some dogs and burgers on the grill and let them swim in the pool until they pass out and go home. Anything else is just crazy.
