Did you stay at your house when it hit?
A guy who I worked with stayed and lived right on the coast. He had to jump off the second floor of his house and swim to his boat that was tied to the house and almost didn’t survive

I learned that anyone who is on the public dole should not be allowed to live in precarious high risk locations.

I'm also still pretty amazed that even to this day most people don't understand what happened that caused the city itself to flood.

George Bush could even control the weather. Not saying he is, but he's borderline as bad arse as Chuck Norris.

No, but my neighbors did. I don’t have a second floor, so I’d have just been riding the furniture around the house.

Wet carpet is really heavy. Plan your sales accordingly.

I take care of myself, my family, and my community. I don't care about anything else.

And you never ever really know someone until you see how they behave in a crisis.

Most people are childlike.
They expect others to care for them.

I learned that civilization is a thin veneer that’s easily shattered.

That, and carrying the right insurance can save your arse.

The government is worse than useless.
Chalmatians are a thing that exists.
Almost everyone is looking for something for nothing.
MRE = constipation
Having no running water or electricity really sucks.
Deep fried Pizza rolls are the food of the gods.

The Federal Flood was precipitated by Katrina, but not genuinely "caused" by it.

Yeah and don’t try to clean out a fridge that’s been sitting without power for three weeks.
Just tape it closed and wheel it to the street
