Is it true most of these playground things are banned today?

I can think of maybe two playgrounds that I've taken my little ones two that had merry go rounds, maybe two different ones that had see saws. They've mostly been taken out.

That worm thing is pretty common nowadays, but it's too big for my kids to use, & it'll probably be banned once they are.

What surprises me is how many playgrounds are getting rid of swings. We've been to plenty of playgrounds that were nothing but a handful of platforms and a few slides. I think I'd have been bored as frick as a kid on these, but my kids get excited every time.

Merry-go round

Monkey Bars

I've never seen that in my life. I also remember as a kid jungle gyms, and metal slides that would be hot as fire, but were so fast. There was one at Lafrenere park thatr you had to climb in this tall metal cylinder to get into.

Nothing back in the 80's would be safe by todays standards.

Anyone play on one of these back in the 80's? I guess it was more of a backyard toy that a playground, but it was like a combo see saw and merry go round. Neighbor family had one, spent hours trying make each other throw up on it

There ain't a thing "Merry" about that fricker.I've seen a bunch of other kids get slung.

Sit Yoga/Indian style in the middle. The others slinging you around as hard as they can.

Good times.

School rules were that you had to be in third grade before you could play on the monkey bars..first day of third grade I was waiting in line for my turn on them when the rather large girl in front of me fell off a third of the way across and broke her arm...teacher rounded us all up and ended recess. They took a cutting torch to it after school that same day

Wobble horse or something like that.
When they put the merry go round in at our elementary school, some stupid girl fell off and broke her leg. End of that shite.
Here back in the 60's.

Don't know what that caterpillar looking thing is

I grew up in the mid 60's to late 70's, graduating from high school in 1978, on the Mamou prairie.
