WTF-You got to go to all of those places as a kid? I got biloxi on occasion and I had nothing to compare it to, so it was like heaven until I got older
BILOXI!?!?

You got to go to Biloxi?

Lucky bastard.

We got to the Highway 90 Bridge in Pearlington and the old man told us the boat launch there on the Pearl River was the beach.

We ate our pb&j sammiches and got back in the car.

Biloxi for us might as well have been Mars.

My Paw Paw would give me a dime and sometimes a quarter. I thought he was the richest man in the world.

Some friends had a charge account at the local marina near our camp. They could get whatever they wanted and just charge it. And man those old Tony’s sandwiches looked so good to a kid. Of course we didn’t have one so we had to settle for whatever was at the camp.

It’s funny now. My mom confuses stuff from us growing up, and she remembers that we had a charge account and the other kids were jealous of us. Lol.

My dad retired from the Army after 24 years and I was in the 9th grade. We lived in our first house and a kid in the neighborhood invited me over and they had hostess brand twinkies, cup cakes and donuts along with bottles of coca-cola in their house and I was impressed at how rich they must be to afford that stuff! The same kid got a new Honda 125 dirt bike for Christmas that year and my mom made me a western shirt!

You lived in a brick house. You went on vacations. You went to private school. You had your own car to drive once you got your driving license. Your Dad was home on weekends instead of working at the plant.

Haha! Man, good post, OP. This brought back some funny memories. For me as a kid, I can remember growing up that being "rich" was random things like your dad having a 4 door truck or if you had a lot of sports jerseys or if your mom drove a suburban

Oh shite and also when I was young and the first jurrasic park came out, there was this massive like 3 foot tall rubber/remote control T-Rex from the movie that was fricking killer. I remember that only a few of my friends had them and I could remember thinking that their parents must be rich!

I thought of some more.
It seemed like the "rich" people had Olds 98 regencies, Buick 225 electras, etc.
I also thought that anyone that had a 911 or a 308 had to be super rich.

In reality, it probably meant they were in debt.

I was exposed to wealth pretty early. In my childhood, I would spend a couple of weeks with cousins in BR each summer. My Great Uncle lived on Nicholson in the 50”s & 60’s; huge lot, pool & pool house, etc. He founded a little plumbing company that is a pretty well know mechanical engineering firm today.
He set the example for me of what can be accomplished with hard work. I still think of him often to this day.

And bone of this has to do with anything. Put both of those in each other situation. Aunt may already be dead and he might still be walking like the 105 year old seeing world records.
Point is never hurts to be able to afford better healthcare.

A house on a slab and with a shingled roof. I grew up in a house on pillars and a tin roof, happy to report I am now rich according to my definition.

When I was a kid and went to stay with my grandparents, my grandma would take me to the grocery store and I could get whatever I wanted. I didn’t even have to ask. My mom let me pick what cereal, drinks, and lunch meat I wanted for my sandwiches that was it

Well, our neighbors' helicopter pilot had his own chauffeur. I'm still not sure if it was because our neighbors were "rich" or our helicopter pilot was just too damn cheap to hire a chauffeur.
