my K&B memories involve my great aunt bringing me to buy a gallon of vanilla ice cream.

My dad loved the Cherry Vanilla.

I think Blue Bells’s Cherry Vanilla comes close to K&B’s. I wonder if K&B contracted with Blue Bell to produce their ice cream.

Although K&B’s ice cream was sold in primarily square paper boxes instead of round paper tubs except for the larger gallon size which was sold in a plastic tub that nearly everyone reused as cheap Tupperware for gumbos and soups.

Verbena Street Bakery - Get there in the back of the place at the right time in the evening and you'd get their donuts hot out of the grease!

The giant Schwegmann's on Old Gentilly was the greatest store that ever existed.
this is true - I could even get my school uniform shirts there, and the aisles were wide enough for a car to stir down

Some of the remaining Tastee locations make and sell the old McKenzie's products. They seem to be the same, some are still wonderful, like the buttermilk drops.
