Popsicle stick 'grenade' we pretended this was a boomerang but we all know this was actually a 'flying grenade' that stung if it exploded just right when it hit you.

Pencil wars - snap the other person's pencil with yours until it breaks in half. once you figure out the technique, you can wreck shop.

paper clip dart - this was legit dangerous. you bend a paperclip into a V with the point sticking out then hold it in your mouth with a rubberband like a slingshot and let that thing go and it will stick in a felt board or inflict bloody damage on your classmates.

spitballs - those thin milk straws from the cafeteria at lunch loaded with a tiny spitball can sting.

singing rubberband - amazing how many people don't know the simple physics behind putting tension on one side of a rubberband before you let go so it flies twice as far and twice as fast. used to make my kids nuts because they couldn't figure out why mine went so much further when it looks like we are doing the exact same thing with it.

honorable mention

- paper airplanes
- paper football

Spit balls, clothes pin guns followed by fishing string tied on the end of a handkerchief.

We did the paper hornets but then upgraded to cutting paper clips in half and molding into a u shape

We had to play flag football with bandannas in our pockets. Tie a couple knots on the end kept it from coming out of your pocket and also worked to pop ppl with it

My rich kid neighbors buried spray paint cans in their yard and tried to set them off like landmines with their dirt bikes. They were all boy scouts, too, so they had mad crafting skills they used for evil.

Today he’d be sent to GITMO & your entire family would be deported…. Even if you are 10th generation Americans…

We did the usual spitballs, paperclips bows, etc in elementary, but it got real in college.

I had 4 roommates in on-campus apartments (not dorms) one was a mechanical engineer way too smart and crazy for his own good, one nursing, and none of us knew who the other guy was because he was never there; he was the manager of a local McDonald's and in the Navy. The Navy guy apparently transferred and never told us anything, or apparently the university either. One day he was just gone, which kinda sucked for us at the time because we got free McD's anytime we wanted. They never moved anyone else in with us.

The other two guys and myself had become good friends and they both worked at Logan's Roadhouse. One night they brought home a box of straws, toothpicks, and a stack of styrofoam cups. We got drunk and had a little competition shooting toothpicks thru the straw at the cups. That is where it started.

I was in the custom truck "scene" at the time and had a truck with air suspension, and a few extra air valves. My buddy who was the mech engineer came up with an idea that would get us banned from campus.

It was spring, so all our windows were open, we lived on the second floor. Using a small air tank, a 3/8" valve, and an electric compressor, we built an airgun that we would take out to his parents house and shoot AAA batteries at random stuff.

The school finally realized that the one guy had moved out and we were all at work when they were moving another person in with us. We kept the airgun in that room. The parents thought it was a meth lab or something, so called the university police, we all got called from work to come to our apartment. We get there and it is full of cops and the dean of the school. We all got kicked out and banned from the premises for life. Since the windows were all open they thought we were using it to shoot at passing traffic.

So we all moved in together into another non-campus apartment, and built the thing again....except.....MUCH bigger. We went to a junkyard and got an airtank from a semi-truck, an industrial, belt driven A/C compressor, and a 1" air valve. We mounted it to a 1" cut of MDO, with a 2" PVC barrel about 6' long, and bought a case of trailer hitch balls. at 400+ PSI we were launching them through concrete patio stones and turning them to dust. It was nuts, and awesome. We upgraded the barrel, and hooked it up to a bottle of pressurized nitrogen and launched a 20oz bottle of Coke over a mile.

We had a soft little stress-squeeze type ball that we would shoot at newcomers to our party as part of a "cover charge." One guy came for a Super Bowl party, and accepted the challenge. We had forgot we had frozen a lime and wrapped it in wet paper towels the night before and loaded it in the barrel. The ball got stuffed in the barrel with the lime with no one knowing. We shot this dude in the back and didn't even realize it until we saw the small pieces of lime on the wall. We still talk to this day how lucky we are we didn't blow that dude in half if we had forgotten a hitch ball in there.

Sorry for the novel.

The only thing I remember making in shop class in junior high were marital art weapons.

First week of metal working segment, everyone had made Chinese throwing stars, and they were soon flying all over the school.

When it came time to learn the wood lathe, of course everyone had to make a pair of numchuks.
