Unless the dress can magically change colors IRL, then someone is right.

How people see black and blue is beyond me. Wtf? It's clearly white and gold.

black and blue,

I have it on my laptop, and then pulled it up on my 55 inch. LG HD tv via HDMI cable, and still see it as black and blue

I swore white and gold, looked down to my phone to text someone, and came up sawing blue and black. I immediately suspected its some GIF. but now I can see it both ways whenever my eyes leave the screena nd come back, it changes.

Nah, the woman that posted the original photo put up another photo with her in it LINK

Boom. It's how you perceive what you see. The smart people could tell it was blue and black, but looked faded due to lighting, brightness and contrast.

It's about taking more into account than just the pic at face value

So, I saw the picture as gold and white but made a fist and just left a peep hole and looked at it from different distances. Now I can see it as black and blue but eventually see it as gold and white again. Pretty trippy.

Meh, doesn't matter what anyone sees in the pic, I see it actually comes in pink/black & red/black, which are both >>>>>> whatever anyone is seeing in the pics.

When I first saw this I thought it was clearly White and Gold. No question. I was actually saying WTF to the people seeing black and blue.

Come back an hour later after going on Twitter and seeing it again and now I see Black and Blue. What the hell? I think I'm going crazy.

My point is that, just because we know the color of something, it doesn't mean the picture of that object will be the same. Lighting/photoshop etc can all cause it to appear differently

and you chose a bad photo to try to prove your 'point'

you picked a movie that was filmed in black and white. That has nothing to do with how your eyes adjust to a certain photo of a certain quality.

The specific photo in the OP is an optical illusion. The dress is factually black and blue, as shown in the follow up picture of the girl wearing it. But the fact that some people see white and gold doesn't make them stupid.

It's like the "which way is the ballerina spinning" deal. Some people see it going clockwise, some see it going counter-clockwise, some can make themselves see it going both ways.
