You can walk a city block in Nola without seeing a bum.

Been to many cities where that isn’t the case.

DC has the most bums I’ve ever seen milling about in common areas, Austin has the most aggressive bums, and LA has the most bums I’ve seen in one area.

It's amazing how much true leadership matters. I can remember, as crooked as he was, when George D"Artois ran the city of Shreveport. Downtown was clean and basically thriving. Not many problems, crime was limited to Hollywood, the Bottoms and Cedar Grove.

It's sickening that leaders of these cities, today, don't have the stomaches to do what's necessary. Even in Austin, where voters passed a law banning camping on sidewalks and in parks, the mayor is dragging his feet to take care of it.

The problem is when housing values spike to the point where people cannot secure housing unless they have a really good career. It's a dangerous knife edge to sit on.

Tennessee (Nashville) is actively sending homeless to west coast and other regions for free. It is helping tremendously. One of the smartest non profits ever created.

If I was a bum, I’d head to areas with a good year round climate. Like California

I nominate Fayetteville, AR. Population only around 80K, but the intersections are always fully staffed, same crew rotates around town. Too many bleeding hearts in Fayetteville, they feel too guilty to say no to the beggars. Which just encourages more begging...

Too hot and humid to be homeless in the summer.

Plus anyone can afford a trailer.

Are you suggesting that high housing prices drive homelessness?

If that’s what you’re arguing, I would disagree

Being homeless doesn't pay as well in LA as in Cali.
