I work out of Monroe although I'm not there now and wasn't for the storm. I hear that they got hit pretty hard and out of 23 people in the area, only 6 still have power and internet connectivity That's through last night.

obviously Shreveport didn't get hit has hard as those to the south of us, but just driving through my neighborhood this morning, there were a substantial amount of large trees down all over the place

Natchitoches is just now getting power back to a majority of the city. A crazy amount of trees were uprooted here and tons of power lines down.

Some family of mine is visiting Shreveport right now and they said trees are down everywhere and power is still out in lots of areas.

My sister in Sterlington which is near Monroe got a little tree damage and lost power for about a day and a half. She got her power back up and is good now. From what she tells me there is minor damage all over up that way but she tends to hype up damage though.

The Leesville Deridder Fort Polk metroplex got wiped out. Power out literally everywhere. Water out many places.

That doesn't even show the complete picture for Lincoln Parish. City of Ruston is 50% without power and it's not tracked on the site.

The storm jogged east and took out A big swath of cenla. Our town is completely out with no estimate of how long. They have to restore the feeder lines before they can even start on residential.

I was at Toledo Bend yesterday. Trees down or broken in half everywhere. Many homes and businesses damaged from wind and fallen trees. Power lines are a wreck. Power company said the lines were in worse shape than after Rita, said restoration would take about a week. In my uninformed opinion it will take longer.

Parts of Many had power. There were lines for gasoline at every place that could pump it.

Tons of bucket trucks and crews working out there. Things will get better quickly, but there is a lot to do in the area.

We got hit really hard, never seen wind blow like this before. This was way worse than Rita, every resident of Union parish was out of electricity after the storm passed. I counted 70 trees blown down across the highway from Ruston to my house.

It was the second most populous area the hurricane ran over, behind Calcasieu Parish, so it makes sense in that regard. It also didn't help that the area is not used to seeing hours of gusty winds that are sustained at tropical storm strength and come from different directions as the storm passes. Those kinds of winds really test older trees and infrastructure that just can't withstand those loads and that leads to more failures. If they got hit with the same winds in a month, you'd likely see far fewer outages, as problem trees will have already fallen and the failed equipment will have been replaced with new more modern equipment.

Starks which is 10 miles north of Vinton is jacked (Vinton is bigly jacked). 6 miles from the state line. Deweyville Texas 6 miles away has power crews crawling around like ants. I have yet to see the first bucket or pole truck working in my town.
