I don’t mind them. Around here you only see them on curved roads. It’s a reminder to slow down.

When I lived out in New Mexico, there was an intersection in the middle of nowhere East Mountains that had one with 8 crosses. To me they're a reminder how fragile life is and to slow the frick down.
Now living close to the beach with Louisiana and Texas folks invading and driving like maniacs, I can see why there are so many scattered on the roads. You people drive like complete dickbags.

If someone died in an auto accident on my property I would not begrudge their family putting a cross on it.
No big deal to me.

Why don’t you just do you, and let other people do them? Seriously, why would this even register on your radar with all the incredible amount of other shite like litter on the side of the road, or dilapidated infrastructure, horrific traffic to think about, you pick crosses on the side of the road people put up to commemorate a life lost?
I don’t get this, not even a little bit.

The op doesn’t “get it” either.

I respect their meaning. If someone died on my property and the family wanted to put one of
I'd be fine with it. I'd keep it nice and clean too.

No it really doesn't, I was curious if it did. I even said in OP I'm truly sorry for anyone has lost someone. Sorry to hear that your family lost a young child, that has to be incredibly painful.
Sorry didn’t mean to sound snarky. Just a bit sensitive to that

You're fine. It was a simple question and you answered it.

You don't gain health by hitting them?

I assume most of them get buried or cremated, so why put something where it happened?
This is a valid point. We don’t do it anywhere else but all just accept that this very specific event gets it.

I embrace it. I frequently pass by one that memorializes a friend who died in an accident during HS.

Probably very much a NIMBY thing.

Well there’s an entire Autonomous zone where George Floyd died that the police aren’t even allowed to enter.

The only thing I don’t like about them is that they are a marker of someone’s death, rather than a tribute to the person’s life.
Remember that I lived, not that I died.

Do gold star mothers go to Iraq and Afghanistan to visit the place their loved one passed?

My uncle was going around a sharp curve and became distracted by a roadside cross. Ran off the road and killed his passenger stepson. Now there are two crosses in the curve.
