Revolving your life around sports is easily better for one’s mental health and for society at large than revolving it around politics.
Really? You should visit the rant every once in a while, then come back and try arguing about sports fans' mental health.
I think the correct answer is every one on all these boards are idiots if you use your logic. All you people do is argue and bicker.
Except Food board, recruiting, and home/garden board.

I can block things out so if I am somewhere and there are some people having a political conversation I just engage with other people. Seriously, my dad used to always tell me... "Don't ever talk about politics and religion in public". And I wish more people did this
You don't know other people's story. And if you are around people you don't know well, etc.. Or you are somewhere and have different views than people who are having a conversation.. It can make things awkward.
But I have a brother in law who are one of those people who brings politics into everything. He and I got into it really good several years ago at a family Christmas. We always do Christmas at my moms a week or two before Christmas... I am a sports guy especially football. I was watching the NFL this particular time and he started going on about how he doesn't watch the NFL blah blah and then tied it into politics and then when he gets on politics he brings religion into it.
I finally told him that I don't give a frick what he thinks or believes, I was just trying to watch football. He is "conservative", but the type of conservative that conservatives don't want to represent them... Because he also the tin foil type.
Then he started quoting bible verses to me. I started questioning the religious shite he was saying and he got pissed. Asked me if I believed in God. I told him I believed in a higher being, but I don't really follow a religion because I think its about how you live your life and treat others, etc. He goes on to tell me I am going to hell and that I need to find Jesus. All of this started with the fact he doesn't watch the NFL.
This is when he all of a sudden became religious. Then a few weeks later, my brother & sister's dad (we are half siblings) had dinner at their house and evidently he gets into it with my siblings dad's wife.
So now he just comes and doesn't say a word.. Sometimes he will try to drop a political view or bible verse. But I don't "hate" people who act like everything revolves around politics, but I think there is a time and place for it.

The only people I know like that are coworkers and I pretend I don't follow politics.

Politics is downstream of culture

It’s just another team sport man. People like to cheer for their team. It’s no different than the guy who wears his favorite team’s jersey all the time and constantly listens to sports talk radio instead of Rush or NPR.

This reminds me of a guy I used to work with. He used to always listen to Rush Limbaugh.. Hey, if that's your things, that's cool... But this guy would always work something he heard "Rush" say into a conversation.. And he would always say "Kind of like something Rush said the other day.. he said.....".
Sometimes when he talked to someone he hadn't talked with before (when he switched projects, etc) and he would drop the whole "kind of like something Rush" on them and every once in awhile someone would ask "Rush who?". And he would say in away as if everyone is supposed to know who Rush Limbaugh is... "Limbaugh. You don't listen to Rush Limbaugh? Ohh man, you got to start listening"..
It was funny until you were in a conversation and he would say it to you..

Yes, I hate people like this. Bring politics into everything, ruining movie discussions, sports discussions, etc.

imho, they're missing out on living a real life.
On a list of what is important to me,politics doesn't even make the list.

I always look forward to the latest buzzword to come out of the PoliBoard collective.
libtard->cuck->soy boy...and on and on and on.

Both the Republican and Democratic Party only care about money and power. Both are equally destroying our country (and they don’t really care about the country, just power)
The die hard who blindly follow their party don’t even realize they are just sheep being fed propaganda by their party in order to maximize donations.
Our political system is group-think disguised as democracy.

I would say dont discuss religion and politics with dumbasses or if you cant remain dispassionate yourself. I've had many thoughtful conversations with friends, family, co-workers, and strangers at social gatherings about both subjects by listening more than talking and making points without being offensive.

It blows my mind. Turn that shite off. It's poison.
And I'm not picking on Fox News. The same goes for all of the major news outlets.
Pretty much all national news outlets are nothing more than propaganda machines now. It's why I rarely watch any of them. I might flip on a national news network once every few months.
