It doesn’t snow where I live, but I can drive to the mountains in an hour or two for snow.

Last year was a record snow year for the sierras. There were a couple times when it absolutely dumped. My friend and I left mammoth mountain in his Altima in a day when it snowed over 36” but the Altima did really well. A month later we were in South Lake Tahoe in my truck, which didn’t do so well Thankfully I had tire chains to put on, otherwise, we’d be screwed

I lived in the NE for 20 years prior to coming down South

Our school wouldn't cancel class unless 8" of snow had fallen.

Best snow storm was a "Snurricane", it was basically a tropical storm that came through in November and collided with a cold front. The storm wound up dumping 18" of snow and an additional inch of freezing rain.

The net effect was everything buried in massive snows that had about 2-3" of rock hard ice on top. The homes and trees were crystalized in ice.

As a kid, it was awesome because we got to play Ice Hockey in our front yard but it caused millions in damages and the power was out for days. Kerosene heaters FTW!

For nine years, I lived where the average annual snowfall is 82". Usually didn't see the ground from November until sometime in April. Didn't see any leaves on the trees one year until June!

I absolutely hated it. There was one month it didn't get above 20° below at all. If I'm never that cold again...

My experience with snow tells me snow is like your mother-in-law. They are both best visited once or twice a year instead of having to live with them.

2wd truck?

I live an hour from Mt. Hood so I see snow fairly often.

Ice sucks, but in terms of snow I'm a great driver on it.

Baton Rouge shuts down with 2 inches of snow. Probably for the best since drivers can't drive in optimal weather, much less snow.

I took a contract job near Philthydelphia in Jan. 2000, and can't count how many clueless assholes I watched go sliding / spinning into mailboxes, telephone poles, thru intersections and other cars every morning on my drive to work.

I'd take Baton Rougians in the snow every day of the week: I never lost control up there in the snow.

I found it troubling to see people putting up Christmas decorations in BR without snow.

Most snow I've ever been in is about 6-10" in Oklahoma. Wasn't there when it fell, though. I quickly learned how much it sucks to wear steel toe boots in 5 degree weather.

Leaving out of Minneapolis on I-35 I ran into a blizzard, total white-out conditions for about 20 minutes, hitting ice patches and skidding out of control...

Screw that shite. I never want to see that much snow ever again. Ever.

Im in West Virginia right now, so its a pretty normal thing for Morgantown. A few highlights of my experiences here would be getting about a foot of it 3 years ago. Closed school for a few days which turned into basically a three day long drunk sledding adventure/house/block party.

We got a big snow right before the WVU-Kansas basketball game 2 years ago right around 5 pm. Traffic is awful around that time anyway, but with the snow and traffic the trucks couldn't treat the roads, so it turned into gridlock for several hours. Kids didn't get home from school until 7 or 8 that night. Basketball players were ditching their cars and running to the arena, as were the fans. In a way, one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Also had a snowball fight on the outdoor patio of a bar last year

you want some experiences?...how about everyday ones in winter...your car always looks dirty from the road grime/salt/melting snow...in between fronts or lake effect snow events, things melt making your yard soggy along foot paths,...someone has to clear driveway/sidewalks...shoes are piled by doors because no one wants anyone walking around with wet shoes....oh yeah, pretty lovely....

although its 50 today and I am headed to the club for some golf

Snow can be fun, but it’s also a nuisance. Makes it more difficult to drive, makes a mess inside and out of your vehicle, and shoveling it is a pain.

I love snow, particularly powder. I think a lot of people have experience with slush but not good ole powder which you can "shovel" with a broom or snowblower.

As for driving, anytime it's below 28 degrees its not soft and makes for much easier driving.

This town looks awesome in snow, it's my favorite time to take pics.

You can play hockey on a glacial lake...
