Houston, it gets ridiculous. You start approaching reasonable steak dinner territory for 5 lb boiled.

Also EVERYONE has them. It's why the price will never really go down.

this is why I have all but quit eating crawfish unless I boil them myself.

Just the opposite here. I buy cause I can't boil them for the price per pound I can buy them. When they get under 5 bucks though.

Yep. As long as every freaking bar and cafe in a 50 mile radius is serving them, prices are going to be ridiculous. I think people get more excited about crawfish season here than they do in Acadiana.

Well with multiple temperate winters in a row, if prices don't correct at least a little bit, they never will.

Crawfish are just ridiculous anymore. If I want to pay that kind of money I'm going to an upscale seafood restaurant.

Hate to tell ya bub but high crawfish prices are here to stay. When distributors quit buying crawfish at 9am to keep stocks down to hold the prices up because Houston is paying them, the high prices ain't leaving.

I caught a crawfish walking across my driveway last week and I am feeding him(/Her?) raw shrimp in a bowl on the kitchen table. He (/She) eats the shrimp and seems to be growing. So the price will be ZERO when he (/She?) grows big enough.

$18.99 for 3lbs or $29.99 for 5 lbs at Crawfish Hole on Verot in Lafayette. By early March last year, I think I was paying $23.99 for 5 lbs.
