If this board is any indication, it's pretty one-sided. I can't remember the last time I've heard anyone mention the south here unless it's football or food related.

Look, there is a lot to hate on about California. I have a friend that was born and raised there, lives outside Sacramento. Really smart and soft spoken, kind of a nerd; not a shite talker. He says he hates it because of all the nonsense policies, pointed out San Francisco in particular.
It’s a beautiful place, but a ridiculous place with tons of delusional people that talk about the rest of the country like they are idiots, and not just other people with different values and opinions.
But just like any other place, there are tons of great people that look away while letting the morons make noise.
We just see our side of it on this board.

Not even sure what this means, I guess you mean when you actually talk to people (not on a message board)? Well, no, this board shouldn’t be an indication. I never hear anyone talking about the people of California/west coast here either, unless it’s for vacation. It’s the nature of message boards

No. I mean from my experiences posting on west coast-centric message boards. I realize it's not water cooler conversation in the south.

That's true. I have worked a bunch in most parts of California, and most people wouldn't believe how many rednecks there are in the central valley and northern California near Auburn and Nevada City. Clear Lake and Lake County is more redneck than Mississippi.

I enjoyed living in both states.
Being from Louisiana it is hard to not enjoy living here.
Having lived and raised a family in California, this state has it plus when it comes to the weather.
I also loved the beach, cruising down Pacific Coast Highway, Redwood forest was cool, and enjoyed dirt bike riding in the desert.
Things I also hated about both states.
Just depends where you want to live.

Well, I don’t normally venture into other boards, but would venture to say this might be one of the most outrageous boards on the internet. Crazy shite is brought up here every day. Hyperbole galore.
It may make not create the best look but is entertaining enough for people all around the country to be regular contributors.

Could be. Between here and the poli board there's usually at least one anti-California thread a day and oftentimes multiple. I just don't see anywhere near that frequency elsewhere. Anecdotal, I know.
Now I'm not saying that a lot of them don't have negative misconceptions about the south. When the south does come up you'll probably hear a lot of dumb comments about incest and racism. I'm just saying I don't see it come up nearly as often as it does in reverse.

Bro, cost of living is actually affordable in the south and we're not getting arse raped by high taxes everywhere and we can actually start a small business that won't be smothered by red tape before it even takes off.
Texas and rest of the deep south is a better place than California to make a living and raise a family.
And we don't have to worry about droughts too.
