Politicians
Ding fricking ding.
But then I guess you have to look at it from an economic value.
If all politicians would be eliminated, what would suffer economically?
Looking at it just from a local level. Local print shops benefit heavily on campaigns, between the signs, cards, bumper stickers, Tshirts, etc that they buy to get their name printed on. Then advertisement spots they buy around the area they are campaigning in, etc.
They have fundraisers at local establishments which is a money booster for those establishments, etc, etc.
So there are a few ways to measure a profession. Im sure if every company, agency, non profit, etc had someone go in and find more efficient ways to do things, there would be a lot of people without jobs.
But back to the economic value, every job that is filled is putting money into someone's pocket and that in itself isn't useless.

You're going to upset a lot of sales people and "consultants" with that response.

Don't use one. There is no law requiring you to do so.
