Not for a car battery. Im not mechanically inclined but I can do that easily. It should be something any decent adult male should be able to handle. Come on man. Do you realize how easy it is to change?

Next you’ll be telling me to change my own wipers.

batteries go dead that quickly?

They can seem to but there are a number of factors that can cause a battery to limp along and suddenly fail. Most newer vehicles are very hard on primary starting batteries, numerous electronics that take a steady drain on the battery and starting batteries are not designed for that. Some vehicles have an additional battery (often a small VRSLA battery) to take up that duty, but that also one more battery to replace eventually. My truck is easy on batteries, no fancy electronics but rarely driven so it has an underhood mounted trickle charger, just keep it plugged in and the battery stays happy for years. My Rav4 is relatively new but once a month or so I hook it up to charger and give the battery a solid overnight conditioning charge.

Walmart $200

My 22 GMC Sierra 6.2l was draining batteries left and right. I replaced 8 in 2 years because of a parasitic draw. Walmart gave me 7 free batteries.

I no longer own that POS truck. I have a lifetime truck. 21 tundra 5.7.

Unless your battery was less than three or four years old, I’d just move on and know it would have shite the bed the winter or next winter.

One less worry now for the next three or four years.

Yes, a battery can fail in an instant. I left my house with no issue, picked up my mom and brought her to the Dr to get an injection (which would require me coming back 2 hours later.) Left the Dr, dropped her off at the home, tried to crank my car to go the the store while she had lunch....Dead...could not be jumped off. I had to buy a battery.
How old was your battery? if over 3 years, every crank is a gamble.

Some of the new model German cars require a computer reset at the dealer after changing the battery.

They increase the charging as a battery ages, so the battery management system needs to know if you replace it so it doesn't overcharge a new battery and shorten its life. If you have an independent BMW shop in your area, they can usually do it for less money, but you can also buy a scan tool for BMWs that will do it for ~$120.

I call bullshite. If you couldn’t jump it off, then it was something other than the battery or you’re just an idiot.

I get a new battery every three years, no questions asked. It’s peace of mind for less than a dollar a day.

So you basically pay $1000 to get a new battery every 3 years.

I guess that's one way to do it.

Tell me you went to a Firestone

My wife blew out a tire on a drain culvert last week, I had to help her change it. While changing it I asks her to call the close Firestone just to get her a new tire. Tell her to tell the guy what tire and size, guy tells her, they discontinued those tires and they’re hard to find, and he could match those tires with this one.

What’s funny, I just had those same tires, she needed, put on my truck, just a month ago. When she realized she was lied to, she proceeded to rip the dude a new one. The guy told her it was a “miscommunication “ she was like miscommunication, my arse, you lied to me… I could hear the guy stuttering, not knowing what to say.

She had me laughing my arse off…

Called my buddy, who’s the dealership service manager where she got her last set of tires, and he had me a new tire, at 2/3 the cost of the Firestone price, the next morning. Frick those assholes, I’d never get tires from a Firestone.

These places always try to upsell you. I went to Chabills and wanted 2 tires changed and they said all 4 needed changing. I told them no and he said you’ll have to sign a waiver saying you were told those tires were unsafe before leaving.
Anyway, the other 2 tires were fine, but it won’t stop them from lying.

Bought a Delco batter 2 years ago from a dealership, my fault. Died last month. Took it to AutoZone, and one cell was dead. Gave me a list of batteries they sale and I tell them I think my battery is still under warranty. Call the dealership on when I purchased and how long my warranty was. She told me back in 24 and it's a 42-month warranty. Take it to the dealership and yes, I had over 6 months left of warranty. Two hours later, new battery, no charge, I mean no charge for the battery.

Tire choice on 190 in Covington.

Battery was a few years old so I don’t know. Just decided to go ahead and do it.

In my mind, it felt like he was fricking me around, but after the amount of time of being there, and knowing I’ll probably replace it in the next six months to a year or so anyway I just said do it

And on a Ford your can reset the BMS with 10 bright flashes and 5 brake stomps or some shite like that with the truck in accessory mode.

I’ve always ran a battery to failure. More likely than not it’ll be dead at home, or just carry cables with you.

On an old Tundra yours can do that. On a new car chock full of computers and electronics the low battery can lead to electronic gremlins. At least that’s what I read. It’s a common complaint on Ram forums. I do not own a Ram but I like to lurk.
