I've been wearing the Patagonia Quandary's for about a year. They're the best shorts I've owned. I have the 10" inseam and for me they're above my knees.

ETA: I believe what's pictured here is the 8" inseam they used to sell.

My favorite shorts irrespective of style are Gramicci. I found them over 30 years ago when they were primarily marketed to rock climbers. The are durable, have deep pockets, have a built-in "belt" and a gusseted crotch that makes for comfortable leg movements. I probably have a dozen pair of their various type and colors, some of them 20+ years old.

IF, you are 5' 6" w/ a 40" waist...yes ! otherwise, the fit is very good !

Haven’t heard about Gramicci shirts in years. Used to ove those. Didn’t realize they were still around.


Most outdoor style shorts these days have a gusseted crotch. Even cheap arse Columbia(sorry PFG fanboys) does a gusseted crotch in some of their shorts.
