Well I don’t think it’s better BUT we’re closer and we made do with what was here. Our kids didn’t really ask to go elsewhere and all did fine and honestly I didn’t want their everyday friend group to be down hwy 167 .. entirely too much back and forth.

Doesn’t Milton feed into Southside? It’s way over crowded at this point.

Woodvale, LJ Alleman, Lafayette High. You don’t have to pay $150 a square foot to live in an old rice field in Youngsville to get a good public school education in Lafayette Parish.

Well, being that it’s not even close to “better” than those schools, I’d say nothing. The education at VC isn’t better than North Vermilion (public school), much less STM. But, at VC you do get smaller classes, and overall a more “well off” student body.

I was under the impression that the better schools are in the Youngsville/Broussard area. Then in the Erath/Vermillion area.

Best Public: Milton (K-8), Maurice area schools, Erath, Southside High, Youngsville area schools, and all the magnets (except for Paul Breaux). Mediocre Public (good but not great): Woodvale, Broadmoor, Alleman, Edgar Martin, and Billeaud. Best Private: basically all of the Episcopal and Catholic schools are good. My kids are in the gifted program at Woodvale. They will either go to Alleman/Lafayette, St. Pius/STM, possibly Tuerlings, or North Vermillion/Vermillion Catholic if we decide to stay in the area. I'm not sending them to Paul Breaux.

This is the reality. I work with both schools in LFT, and STM is AT LEAST, this much more when all is said and done.

Other than that you are spot on.

Erath is routinely a top 3-4 non magnet public schools. North Vermillion is usually in the top 15 routinely. Milton is the best in Lafayette parish because you don't have to worry about bad middle schools. Gallet, GT Lindon, Billeud, and Southside High are good but Youngsville Middle and Broussard Middle are very mediocre.

Erath is alright if you want your kid going through life telling everyone they are from Erath. As if that is something to be proud of

I have a kid there and both of your statements about ESA are true. Luckily my kid is not one of the green-haired gay or trans kids that go there. She's only there for an education.

Yes Milton feeds into Southside, is it really overcrowded? My kids will be going there for highschool but I thought it wasn't too bad but that was just my assumption.

Not positive but I’ve been told by faculty at VC that “several” (dont know the number) have transferred from SS to VC.

I graduated from VC in 03

90% of our graduating class qualified for TOPS.

I was way more prepared for college than some of my classmates at LSU

Don't let that VC girl who broke your heart do this to you

I have a ton of friends from VC (never dated anyone from there though), if I lived in Vermilion Parish I would send my kids there, but the education that you get from there isn't much better (if any better at all) than the education you could get down the road for free. The real perk is that you have smaller classes and you have less riff raff

90% of your class would've still qualified for TOPS if they went to a decent public high school in the area.

I thought just about everyone qualified for TOPS.
