Got 7 years out of a Samsung that still works and will be used as a spare in the garage, but the ice maker stopped working and I literally can't even.

I need reliability, function and style.

Trying fixing the ice maker. Could be a small fix.

Cheaper to repair than buy new.

I did. Took it apart, YouTube, bought a part that was a common issue. No dice.

We've been wanting an extra anyway, so it works out that way.

You can literally replace an ice maker a hell of a lot cheaper than an entire fridge

I would resort to using ice trays before I bought a whole new damn fridge.

I’d keep at it. Besides, you can still buy a new fridge. If you manage to fix it, now you have two ice makers. Like a baller.

If you haven't tried already, I'd fix the ice maker. Might even save you a few bucks.

I have a Maytag that is about 2 years old, and while the refrigeration portion works splendidly the lights have stopped working completely in the freezer, and the lights in the fridge are very dim.

Googled said problem and most fixes look to be hundreds of dollars.

Yeah that's not happening. A flashlight is cheap.

Ice makers being mechanical, are typically the weakest link in any refrigerator.

Whirlpool makes very reliable appliances for the most part. I have a 15 y/o side by side that has only needed a thermostat replaced about 5 years ago
