Bruges. It’s like a fricking fairy tale or something.

Bruges is Rick Steve’s’ favorite place in Europe. Rick-frickin-Steves. You know it’s gotta be legit.

Big Bend National Park. I know that its not some hidden gem but its difficult to get to, limited accommodations, and has limited comfortable seasons.

I hear Nashville is nice. So much to do that it’s nearly impossible to only spend a long weekend there and not feel like you missed out on something.

I went there on my honeymoon. Porto is an awesome city. The Douro Valley is also great.

Don’t know many people that have been to Laos but I thought that place was paradise. And it’s often overlooked compared to Thailand and even Cambodia. No beaches though

Only if you're an outdoorsman. Culturally and culinary wise, not much to write home about.

Laos is amazing! I visited Luang Prabang in 2014 and am fortunate to be going back to the country next month

Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the summer.

I spent a month each there when I was four and five, it made a lasting impression.

One of my best friends has places in Traverse City and Drummond Island.

Pujol?

We went before the pandemic and ate at Pujol as well as Quintonil. We did the omakase lunch at Pujol and it was one of the best dining experiences of my life. Pretty reasonable by U.S. standards for fine dining, but still not cheap. Highly recommend getting down there and Mexico City is at elevation so it's a good way to escape the heat during the summer. Kind of counter-intuitive to head South during that time of year. Also recommend the lucha libre experience. Cheap beers and a lot of entertaining laughs.

Marquette is a cool city and the Keweenaw Peninsula is awesome. I probably wouldn't recommend it as a trip unless you're pretty well traveled though.

That works for me. Most places with heavy Northern Europe influences would fit that bill in this country.

I can cook my own food, and culture is overrated IMO

It certainly doesn't bother me.

Big, big money folks who come here for skiing in winter or fishing/rafting/hiking in summer are often disappointed with the rest of it. Just depends on what you want.

I do recall hearing a tourist in a bar in Big Sky say, "I can't believe there's this much snow and it's so cold." Lady, you visited a ski town in the Northern Rockies in January. What the frick did you expect?
