What are some of the things you believed as a kid growing up?

I thought that the cemetary you were buried in depended on where you died. For instance, if you get in a wreck and die in front of a cemetary, they dig a hole, call your family to get dressed up and bury you, all in the same day.

Another one is that I thought all TV shows were filmed live, sort of like SNL. I always wondered why no one ever made mistakes.

Aids Needles in payphones.

And every neighborhood had a kidnapper lurking in the shadows(thanks Adam Walsh and Jody Plauche').

That my parents could kill me and get away with it! I knew they would get arrested, but I figured at the trial my dad would stand up and say, " Let me tell you what the boy did!", and after he finished the judge would say, "Yep! he had to die. Case dismissed"

I thought that school buses only existed on TV/movies outside of field trips. We didn't have any kind of service in my hometown.

As I grew up, I realized that was probably intentional in response to bussing/integration.

I remember in the 90s the rumor that Mark Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris) had died in a motorcycle accident.

Also that satanist cults were hiding down every back country road waiting to kidnap and ritually sacrifice people.

That catching on fire was way more common. It seems like stop/drop/roll was drilled into our heads near-weekly as kids. I've never known a single person who was, what I would consider, "on fire" at any point

Mines dumb, but I thought that your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc cousins were determined by the order of your family. For instance, my parents were the oldest on both sides so we were the "1st cousins", the next oldest uncle's kids were the 2nd cousins, so on and so forth. My paternal grandparents had 10 kids(only 7 of those had kids) so everyone would look at me stupid when I said my youngest cousin was my "7th cousin".
