I once had a student ask me why the British soldiers were called redcoats during the American Revolution since they didn’t have colors back then and everything was black and white.

Toastmaster's. We were required to participate as a sales team to enhance our public speaking abilities. The Marketing team was dragged in as well.
One of the literature designers stood to present her introduction speech. Halfway through she states that because she is a Military Brat she is a liberal.
VP is doing the critiquing of the speeches that day. "Ray!" "Sir" "You are a military brat and southern raised correct?" "Yes sir" "Are you a liberal?" "No sir." "Why not?" "My Father worked for a living as a CIA uniformed Officer. Her father is an officer. It is a well known fact that once the rank of Major is reached, your mental capability drops 20 points." I was single at the time. VP says "I think you two were meant for each other, you should date." "I don't think so, I'd kill her within two weeks."

I have an entire notes file of dumb or funny stuff my kids have said. They are still young, so some of it is excusable. One of the boys was 11, he was looking for a book to read. I had the Count of Monte Cristo on the shelf and suggested that. I said it was written by the same guy who wrote The Three Musketeers, and I asked him if he heard of that. He said "yeah, they're blind". No, I think you are thinking of something else, buddy.
