You live in Twin Falls. What do I win?
Also to the Bend, OR guy...You haven't been invaded yet

If you’re looking for a Southern town I would recommend Huntsville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga. TN has no income tax and a low cost of living. I would say you need to be open to slightly smaller city also. 50K towns have plenty to do and you can still be within an hour of a major city for concerts and such.

Haven't spent much time in Greenville other than the airport but I hear they have a neat riverfront
Greeneville is shite. You’ll find drug deals going down on their “riverfront” at all times of the day. Go there for work a few times a year.

Go west. Plenty of decent cities that aren't run down.

I've never actually been there. But, just going by pictures, Durango, CO has always intrigued me.
Carson City, NV looks like a great option too. Population is only around 60k, though.

Yea I'm perfectly ok with that. Being within an hour from a major city is perfect. My wife wants to be able to go to big music concerts. I mainly want to be able to be semi-close to be able to go to sports games for either NFL/NBA/MLB.

Bogalusa fits your bill.

Lousiana, Alabama, and Georgia
A couple of places:
- If you are OK with the cold part of the year, I'd say Colorado Springs, CO.
- Raliegh is booming but still kinda small. And the weather is mild.
- South Carolina, like Greenville, but just be warned historically the public school systems are bad, just depends where you live.
- Others: Fayetteville, Ar; Chattanooga or Knoxville, Tn; somewhere between San Antone and Austin, Reno NV.
Also, FYI you can still live a little ways outside one of these cities (rural if you like) and still do things. We do. Just gotta drive a little bit further. But you can save big $ on your home purchase, get some space, avoid HOA's, etc.

Yeah, I would read the tea leaves and plan for the future. West is best, but not on the coastal strip.

I second the mention of Raleigh.

The Village of Fenton, LA. On a side note, any of y'all brother in laws with the sheriff? I got a ticket last week there doing 67 in a 50. That entire hwy is 65pmh except for about 30' when you pass through Fenton. First time I've ever driven through there in my life, had my cruise set on 67. Lesson learned.

Colorado Springs - right next to the mountains and is cheaper than Denver
San Antonio - cheap, close to Hill Country, and relatively low crime/traffic
Fresno - people hate on Fresno but it's cheap for California, has decent nightlife, and is an hour away from mountains/3 hours from the Bay and 4 hours from L.A.

I recently moved to Raleigh, NC.
I enjoy it a lot. Nice people, good breweries, downtown has some good restaurants and easy to get in and out.
Traffic isn’t too bad and you can get everywhere generally in 15 minutes or less within the Raleigh beltway.
Indoor concert venues are a little lacking, but they do have nice outdoor venues during the spring and summer.
You have the outer banks to the east and mountains to the west.
Golf in NC is some of the best in the country.
Overall, a pretty relaxing place
Plenty of places for live shows down there, Off the top of my head, you got The Ritz, The Lincoln Theatre, Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, PNC Arena. DPAC, MotorCo Music Hall, and Carolina Theatre in Durham, Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill, Core Denim Entertainment Center and the Coliseum in Greensboro, Amos Southland in Charlotte.
My lunch, beer and football spot was Lynnwood Griil & Brewing Concern off Glenwood.
And to QJenk, The Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill metro area is where you want to be. We can't wait to get back there. It's more expensive than it used to be, but you can still find houses at a reasonable price, particularly if you're willing to look 20-30 miles out from Raleigh. We have a spot down there just waiting for our house build.

Roanoke, VA is about 150K, low cost of living, beautiful, excellent mountain biking/hiking, good beer scene.
Boone, NC may not be big enough but I love Western NC.
SLC is underrated IMO (I think the word is getting out). I had a buddy move there for a job 20yrs ago and never came back. The LDS impact isn't nearly what is used to be, but there are still some aspects that won't be what you are accustomed to.
I think the Boise, ID ship has sailed. We have a couple of friends there and it has gotten really expensive.
Depends what your income level is and what your interests are to be honest. My recommendation is to look at the major airports on a map and see what cities are within a couple hours drive.
