Was my answer before I even clicked on the thread.
What gets me is people who tell me it's a simple concept, just think of the surface of a balloon. As you put air into it, it expands but the balloon is still the same balloon it was prior to expanding.
I've never understood that analogy because it doesn't explain what the universe is actually expanding into.
