What are innocent things your parents did to you that actually traumatized you?

My dad loves to joke and rag on us since we were little. Always in good fun. Well ever since we were little if we had a female friend he’d sort of be over the top and rag on my brother and I how we had a girlfriend or whatever even if other people were around. Obviously this is embarrassing to a young child and that’s probably exactly why my dad did it. Just to have some fun. I’m sure plenty of dads take great joy in embarrassing their kids for any variety of reasons.
Well. He did that through elementary school and middle school and basically this caused me to shut myself off from my parents in terms of seeking out relationship advice when high school came and boys and girls actually really start interacting with each other. Thankfully everything has turned out ok and I never made any kind of unwise steps that would ruin my life relationship wise. But to this day in my mid 20s I can barely bring myself to discuss anything about who I’m dating or what my intentions are with my parents. I just get horrendously uncomfortable and now that I’m older i realize it really all stems from my dads behavior with it when I was young. He just thought he was joking around with his sons like his dad probably did but somehow it just didn’t land with me that way and ended up stunting my relationship with them in this regard. I know he wasn’t doing it on purpose but the damage is already really done.

My step dad tweaked my moms nipples a lot in the car growing up. It’s always stuck with me.

That was him asserting dominance over his step children.

You’re gonna be in for a shitty arse life if something that petty traumatized you.

My dad would say things to friends about us in front of us to kind of tease us but would be somewhat belittling. Nothing major but doing that at the expense of a child has its impact. I’m not a mental case or anything but I think I have lots of empathy for people who are teased or bullied.

TL;DR version:
OP needs help coming out of the closet to his parents

I saw my dad and uncle cut a guy’s finger off in grade school

When I was little, my dad left to go somewhere. I asked “dad, where ya going?”. He responded with “I’m going see a man about a dog”. He never came home with a dog.
