Way back there was a plan for a land/air/water/rail terminal in St James parish. Would have been an huge hub.

Disney had a shell company, Reedy Creek, buying land in Osceola and Orange counties. They were buying this land while they were negotiating with LA. Anything LA offered was met with new, and better offers by the state of FL. I believe they used VA, as well as LA to get the huge tax incentives in FL.
Your article that you linked is mis-worded. Orlando did not offer anything. Disney is not, and never was, in Orlando. It is partially in Orange County, but not in Orlando. Anything offered would have been by the state and county.

The Disney thing is more urban legend. They explored the area. But the east coast was always the goal.

The Disney thing is a myth, pulled from various kernels of truth... but Walt never considered Louisiana as a location for Disney World. It was always to be in Orlando.

That News With a Twist article is a great example of of why people correctly call the news "fake."
There isn't a single cited source. Not even a secondary attribution, much less a primary.
If you go down a rabbit hole and track sources for the "Disney wanted to build in Louisiana" myth, you find a bunch of hearsay, 4th and 5th hand accounts, and then touch on some of the reality.
Apparently, like many other states, Disney was showing interest in real estate in La. in order to draw attention away from his determination to build in Florida. He didnt want to completely show his hand and have property owners in Central Fla jack up prices.
Per the usual, politicians made it clear they needed their pockets lined, so even if it were true, they wouldve shitcanned it with their greed.
The more interesting thing I happened upon was that there was a planned park in St Louis that wouldve been themed upon the Mississippi River and the West (St Louis as the gateway to the West and major city on river). A large section of that park was to be New Orleans themed. I believe that this is another kernel of why people so stoutly believe in the "Disney wanted Disney World in Louisiana" myth.

My thoughts exactly. Nothing about that article came off as credible. In fact, it read a lot like something I’d read on the OT. Take, for example, this excerpt:

Yes, several but everyone was/is under NDA.
"In the running for but didn't get" means different things. Some were just bad luck and timing. Incentives are not why companies locate; incentives are why companies take the initial conversation and they may help close the deal but more as a signal toward the company's board that the state is willing to help de-risk what is inherently a risky proposition, irrespective of location.
Once the discussions around talent and alignment are underway, everything becomes secondary. The political types have very little influence over those discussions, as it becomes quickly clear - particularly in technology - that the regional or local stakeholders have limited value add.
There are ways to do this well, aggressively, and unified, but that's for another thread.

There was this badass water park off of I-10 at the Iowa and Lacassine exits. I think exit 48?
They actually did choose to build. For all of the hate it’s received, it will be well worth it when the gem finally opens its doors this Spring. My little nephew is stoked.

My wife's father was one of the lawyers representing Disney in NOLA. Early 60's on a family trip he met them as they got off the monorail. My wife a little girl at the time thought he did that for everyone.
Yes, they were serious about Louisiana. From what I have been told by general legal counsels of major chemical companies is that it is not as much the state as it is local politicians with hands out. In today's world. Plaquemines and Ascension parishes are the worst from what I've been told.
