How much have they offered so far?
If you insurance is already involved just settle with your own insurance and let them hash it out. You own insurance will give you blue book.

Looks like you could be 20+K in the hole, but with a newer truck though.

then I wouldn’t think you’d need a lawyer, especially taking 1/3ish of whatever you get.
Why would a lawyer get 1/3 of the settlement? This isnt some major payday, it's less than a grand to get the insurance company off their arse and pay you what you are owed.
Truck worth 35k? Settle for 40 for the pain in the arse and 2K in lawyers fees. Lawyer gets money for his letterhead and use pens.

Because that's how they structure their fees. They aren't going to work for $2,000.

My experience is different, Paying a retainer or hourly is always an option for lawyers. If you have to progress all thw way to court it will obviously cost more. Just removing yourself and involving a lawyer can get a ton of movement.
Maybe not ambulance chasers going for a big payday.

Just an update. Settled with Sedgwick and got a very reasonable check and will essentially be able to purchase a new truck with minimal out of pocket expenses. So while the entire process was a headache, they did make it right

Nothing for your pain and suffering? The emotional and physical toll this took on you? You should have told them you needed trauma counseling, as you have flashbacks whenever you pass a valet stand.

I will about guarantee you somewhere on the valet ticket there is fine print stating Westin not responsible.

I received a note in the mail the other day from NOPD that my truck was recovered in McComb.
Apparently the truck was purchased by someone and he got rear ended by a drunk driver. When it was in the shop for repair, the VIN was ran and discovered the truck was stolen.
The valet company insurance did make me whole, but I certainly had expected the truck to be chopped up or in Mexico

Obviously, you'll inform Sedgewick.
Truck still has salvage value.
ETA: 50% honest, 50% dishonest. Spot-on for the OT.

Well, glad they found it! I guess car thieves aren’t the smartest people on the block! Hopefully, they arrest the person that had possession of the truck, as that is a crime too.
